2-5 500max live
villian is a very good aggressive player, playing a lot of hands and capable of overbets with big hands. He has been caught on a big bluff once.
hero's image is TAG but I've loosened up some
Hero has about $800, villian covers.

Hero opens for 25 with T /images/graemlins/heart.gif9 /images/graemlins/heart.gif in hijack
Villain calls on button,blinds fold

flop($55): 8 /images/graemlins/heart.gif6 /images/graemlins/club.gif2 /images/graemlins/heart.gif
Hero bets $50, villain calls

turn(155): Q /images/graemlins/club.gif
Hero checks,villain checks
(I think I was planning to c/r here)

river(155): 5 /images/graemlins/heart.gif
Hero bets 90, Villain makes it 350...

What do u guys think about my action on the turn?
Call river?

I like the thought here. Unfortunately, the thought doesn't count in poker.

Well, your hand is very well disguised...but so is his. It's not a set since villain would have definately bet the turn. I feel, based on your description, that the villain would have taken the str8 draw with 97 that hit. Of course, it could also be a big flush or a baby flush. I don't see how you can get away with not calling here even though you may very well be beat. It's a damn shame there was no way to get your money in on the flop or the turn though.

I would bet the turn. Since you went for the CR, I would call the river against most players.

The fact that an overcard hits here that gives you 4 more outs, I would bet the pot. This should make a higher flush draw fold and hands like 79, A8, or 99 etc.... If he does call you will have 15 outs that you can assume are all good unless he had A6 of hearts and win a huge pot if you hit your hand.

The downside is if he raises you on the turn you will probably be priced in and put a lot of money in on a draw but I still think that is the best line.

heh, against anybody else at this table I would.
The very next hand, I got my stack in (100BB or so) with top set vs middle pair. live games are sweet.

Given the following information...

(1) Villian is a very good aggressive player, playing a lot of hands and capable of overbets;

(2) hero's image is TAG;

(3) you raised btf;

(4) you bet the pot on the flop, checked on the turn, and made a "blocking bet" on the river; &

(5) villain made a signficant raise when a "scare card" hit on the river.

MAKES THIS AN EASY CALL

Also: Would you mind changing your userid? Ours are a little too close for comfort. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Live, I might call.

its an easy call against the player you mentioned and can be folded just as easily against the other kind.
