View Full Version : LA Poker Classic trip..

I am flying out from the UK tomorrow to LAX for a week to play the Commerce.

This will be my first time in LA, I'm a little bit wary after all the rude player thread a while ago. (A player who swears at a dealer here would be banned from the casino on his first offence)

And obviously I am a little worried about personal safety after all the lurid reports of crime in LA.

But, anyways, look out for a fat guy, sometimes wearing a battered Carolina Panthers cap, talking with a funny accent.. probably playing 20-40 or 30-60 (unless Im running REALLY good /images/smile.gif or really bad I suppose) and say hi. It would be nice to put a face to some of the names Ive been jousting with recently.

Cheers,

Keith

Dear Keith,

You'll have a wonderful time. The regulars are just pissy because the floor tolerates it.

As for the player swearing at the dealers, he was swearing in spanish and so not many understood him, but the ones that did still seemed to ignore it rather than address the issue. I got the impression that the floor does not back their dealers up as they should. The Commerce dealers are the best at ignoring rude behavior directed at them than anywhere I've ever played. Also I noticed an inordinate share of regulars that never toked the dealer no matter the size of the pot. I believe that, along with rude behavior, this habit of non-tipping is perpetuated by other players following suit. I had thought Vegas regulars to be the worst at non-toking.

I hope you're staying at the casino hotel. It is rather nice and so convenient. The hotel staff is wonderful. They transferred me from LAX and back at no charge. They had a driver take me to the mall, wait for me and drive me back at no charge.

If you're still there on the 25th, I'll be sure to come say hi. Meanwhile good luck and don't let the regulars intimidate you. Just check-raise them once or twice and they'll be so busy keeping an eye on you that maybe they'll forget to be rude. One can always hope. /images/smile.gif
