This is a hand from a $4/$8 session at Bellagio. It is referenced in my trip report in the News, Views, and Gossip forum. Although I wasn't involved in the hand, it was certainly the most interesting hand of my trip.

EMP, who has very loose raising standards and has been running over the table for the past half hour, open raises. Folded to straightforward but semi-fishy cutoff, who 3-bets. EMP calls.

Flop: Ts 5c 8s EMP bets, CO raises, EMP 3-bets, CO calls.

Turn: [Ts 5c 8s] 8c EMP bets, CO calls.

River: [Ts 5c 8s 8c] Ks EMP bets, CO raises, EMP 3-bets, CO 4-bets, EMP 5-bets, CO 6-bets, EMP studies the board for a full thirty seconds and then re-raises, CO calls. Who has what?

Do they both turn over 85o?

EMP has pocket TT, for the almost nuts.

If he had 88 he wouldn't have to think about it.

CO had 55 for the smaller house.

How did I do?

I think he had the 8s and had a hard time figuring if there was a str flush out there, finally figured it wasn't there and bet. OG had KK and forgot to bet the turn.

CO has KK. EMP has 88 and was studying to board to see if there was a possible straight flush.

Would you really put a straightforward player on 85o if he 3-bet?

EMP turned quad 8s and the CO's rivered Ks full lost.

Hi Scott. If EMP had TT would he have just called with the nuts on the flop? I'd think he'd keep re-raising until the CO was all-in.

Most of you nailed it. EMP had 88 and CO had KK. Of the players at the table, only the guy sitting next to me and I called the hands at showdown.

This hand goes to show how important it is to always be aware of what possible hands are on the board. Had EMP not studied the board and given CO time to think, I think he'd have bled the CO dry.

Flop: Ts 5c 8s EMP bets, CO raises, EMP 3-bets, CO calls.

It looks like CO just called EMPs reraise. EMP didn't slow down, CO did.

I couldn't have said it better myself. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

You're right, of course. Talking on the phone and posting at the same time aren't always the best combination for me.
