Disclaimer: I do NOT know the solution. This is the problem as it was posed to me. If there is info missing then it is not my fault.
My friend said it was kinda easy but after 20 mins of thinking I have already given up. Someone will probably get it right away, maybe not.
Anyway....
You have two ropes, which both burn end to end in one hour exactly. The ropes are of different length, and vary in width throughout, so they do not burn at the same rate throughout.
With these ropes, how can you accurately measure 45 minutes?
