View Full Version : Bonus Whoring Idea for Saving

I was chatting with a buddy and he says to me – “Do you use ING for savings and investing?”

I do not and he asks me to sign up through him. I laugh cause he wants the $25. I am not laughing at the amount, but I laugh because he is trying to get $25. So, come back with a few bonus whores offers. (ok not the idea).

I have never played poker to support myself. I have never paid bills with it (directly) Whenever I win a nice sum of money, I cash out and buy myself something nice. Clothes, toys, trips. Funding AC trips.

I have been rolling money over (barring a few tough losses) from site to site, casino to casino. Never keeping any in savings, always spending it or risking it.

Here is my idea (that I doubt is new) why not send a certain percentage or amount o an ING saving account and forget it. What I mean is this – if I can take $300 a month out of my paycheck and send it to a second savings account, then why not do the same for w/d’s! So this is my new idea. Every w/d I make, I will take 20% and send it to my new ING account.

1) Anyone else do this?
2) Anyone have better suggestions than ING?

I have read: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=stocks&Number=3360247&fpar t=&PHPSESSID=

3) Does anyone have a better offer than $25 to refer a friend at ING? There has got to be a better deal than that?

Note: Remember, my plan is not to invest a large sum of money. It is simply start with – say - $500. Then add to it (say $10 a week).

You'd be better off using Emigrant to do this. They offer a better savings rate than ING. Link (http://www.emigrant-direct.com)

What's so bad about your friend trying to get $25? It's called whoring!

ING and the like should really only be used for storing money that you need to have highly liquid. You're giving up a substantial amount of return for the ability to get your money out in a few days. Even the best savings accounts aren't good long-term investments.

Consider a Roth IRA instead. There is an annual max, but it earns interest tax free.

Call a good financial planner and they will set you up. A few hundred a month will pay off HUGE in the long run.

I use ING for my tax account, Every week I transfer 35% of my winnings into it that way it is out of (poker)site and come tax time, I get to keep 3% (woo hoo)

Also you can get a 50 sign up bonus with a MS Money serial#

I use emigrant for the same purposes. Anything that doesn't get used for taxes will then rolled into my Roth.
