Seat 9 has been overly aggressive since 6-handed - with ever expanding push/call ranges. His stack has gone up and down like a yo-yo.

Hes probably doing this with a medium ace or hands like KQ,AT etc. Id push.

Hmmmmm, lot of "push it!'s.

I tried to allude to this fact w/ my "read"...he won't be folding PF. Does this change anything for you?

Hmmm.

If he has a wide range here (no A or K), calling off 1/2 of your stack and then folding when he may be almost drawing dead is pretty bad. If you win you'll get a near guaranteed 600 next hand, so like 8800. But you still need like 70% chance to win here. But I can't bear to fold here.

Meh, I push out of spite. And get pissed when his undercards river two pair against me.

It makes me want to push even more. It's not like you're likely to be flipping against AK here, or crushed by AA/KK. You're going to be a 2:1 favorite to have the monster stack on the bubble, and it's not like you're a lock to get ITM if you fold this.

Pa-hooooooooooosh.

Auto-push. If there was a very small stack, I might play it a bit different. You should be a 2:1 favorite in this hand.

I call, no guarantee for ITM...too good to pass up.

The only other option is calling, of course, but you still have BB to act behind you.

Personally, I would want to try to get heads-up with QQ, so I make the strongest play possible and push. But I'm willing to be convinced otherwise.

Well, BB is AI here whether I call or push. But certainly if I push over top he'd be less inclined to jump on with a decent Ace, medium PP himself.

You don't want to end up making an incorrect fold against TT on a K high flop. Just push now.

The poooooshes have it!!

bluefeet: raises 1474 to 3874 and is all-in
Seat 2: folds
Seat 9: calls 1474

*** TURN *** [4d 9s Th] [5s]

Meh...so the bastard rivered his Ace on me /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Despite the sharing of results...my "moment of doubt" came PF.

The scared little girl inside said "call, push an Ace free flop". After the game, I questioned whether that thought had merit. But as several have pointed out, the potential to check/fold the best hand, leaving me no better off than shortie would be horrid -- not to mention getting them in as the heavy favorite IS the goal.

Give me another BB, take a couple away from shortie, I still wonder if the call/push(?) line might be prudent...

~thanks

I think you're contradicting yourself here...

Yup...thinking aloud. I do own sngpt, but I'm horrid at math (too old to remember!)

I suppose it might be as easy as changing his raise to a push, my push to a call...meh, I'm tired.

No, just probably didn't explain it well. Add to the first sentence "...if he elects to play the hand". The original riaser's raise was big enough to put BB AI. Pushing vs. calling wouldn't effect an "isolation" option, other than the fact that i mentioned - he'd be less likely to call the orginal raise. Which perhaps was the point you were making originally.

Hmmmm...

If I "call" button's "push" on this hand, it's only +.1% if he pushes 44+,A7s+,A9o+,KJs+ (I'm gathering I'd get some FE credit for actually pushing over the large raise).

10-05-2005, 09:57 PM
Yeah that'ld be about right but i think u gotta include the near gauranteed 600 chips u get next hand so maybe add 500. In his position I'm pushing any two here though. I think that position, as clear bubble bully is sufficient to make a stand here. I would be folding TT/AK here, even versus any 2, but I think QQ is just strong enough to make a stand.

Don't care how often he calls, QQ is enormous in this spot. EZ push.

I'm lazy with the math too, but for what it's worth, I've never folded QQ 4 handed preflop. If there is a real short stack maybe I will decide to play it cheap if possible. But I will play it for all my chips if need be, even with an extreme short stack. The improved chance at 1st is worth the times I get 4th. I'm not folding the 3rd best starting hand 4 handed, ever.

being the big stack, seat 9's move looks more like an uncalleable 6xBB steal raise against smaller stacks than it does a legit hand. i push. i can't see A A and K K making this move.

"If I "call" button's "push" on this hand, it's only +.1% if he pushes 44+,A7s+,A9o+,KJs+ "

Surely he's pushing a wider range than this, especially since you described him as overlay agro.

I push back at him with no hesitation.
