I figured that you guys are smart, and thus can hopefully help me out.
I live in California, and this past November I went to Atlantic City with some buddies. While there, I was gambling and won $12,000 at caribbean stud at the Taj (K high straight flush, don't know why the '9' wasn't an "A").
I got taxed on the spot, with both federal and state income taxes taken out.
My question is, do I have to pay NJ state income tax on this money? If yes, do I also have to pay CA state income tax on this money? It seems wrong to have to pay in both states, so I'm hoping I can either get the NJ tax back or don't have to pay the CA tax.....
If you guys want to give free advice, I'd GREATLY appreciate it.
Thanks
Josh
