Inspired by HEK's thread.
My girlfriend and I enjoy eating at good resturants when we can come up with an excuse to, mostly lettuce enterain you, we have been to Wildfire(our favorite), mon ami gabi, and Gibsons.
Any recommendations for decent resturants?
We both like steak, i also love seafood, but the GF cant stand it, so if seafood is mentioned it must be along /w good steak.

Only time I went there was in 1995. Thought it was awesome. Can't believe it got closed.

The Michael Jordan's in Grand Central in NYC is fairly decent as well, but as far as Bulls memorabilia goes it wasn't close.

The Death of Michael Jordan's (http://www.inc.com/magazine/20000501/18692.html)

Summary:
It was losing business when Jordan detached himself from it, and the owners tried to get Sammy Sosa to sponsor it, but the idea petered out.

MK. It has the best deserts in the City. I, however, have not been there since I moved out of Chicago in 2002.

RL (Ralph Lauren) has good food and steaks. (Note: neither MK or RL are "reasonable", but since you listed Gibsons they fit the bill).

Good Asian Ben Pao (also let us entertain u). Never been to Chicago's Roy's but it is fantastic in Phoenix. It is mostly seafood, but it might have a few meat dishes.

That is all I can think of now.

Depending on your budget, you could choose between Blackbird and Avec for great dining downtown.

If you're looking for some off the path fun, go to Tweet (5020 N. Sheridan). They probably have the best value steak I've had in the city. Then you could head over to the Green Mill. And if you haven't been to the Green Mill, this is what you should do - it's one of the finest bars in the world.

Maggianos is the best italian place in Chicago IMO. They also have an amazing steak. Expensive, but not outrageous.

I disagree. While good, it is nowhere near the best. Go to Taylor street if you want authentic Italian food. Maggianos is a typical Let us entertain u restaurant, good food, good atmosphere. I do like Maggianos (My rehersal dinner was there), but it is not the best.

Addis Ababa on Clark near the ballpark if you like Ethopian food. Don't forget to get a bottle of Tej (honey wine). They used to have a great, cheap all-you-can eat lunch, but I hear they've stopped that.

Gene and Georghetti's at Wells and Illinois or Grand is one of my friend's favorites. He would know upscale better than me.

Go to either the greek islands or the pegasus in greek town. Order anything with lamb. It will melt in your mouth.

it's weird, i've lived in the suburbs my whole life (buffalo grove), and now that i'm at college in evanston, the whole damn place thinks giordano's is much better than lou's. they don't listen when i try to tell them otherwise!

Ya for steak Chicago Chop House is amazing, Morton's is good too.

Best drunk place = Wiener's Circle on Clark

pequod's pizza ~$22 for a large pizza. $27 for a large deep dish with 1/2 2 ingredients and 1/2 2 other ingredients. great deep dish.

tuscany italian pastas ~$11 or 12, meat dishes around $14
osteria via stado italian dun remember, check the web
tizi melloul (maybe one l) moroccan <- can't recommend this place enough all entrees under $22 i think. appetizers around 7 or 8.
frontera grill (looks more expensive than it is, no reservations, but great food) mexican most main courses in the 15-16 range, some up to around 20, apptz around 7 i think, drinks 6.50-8.50, terrific margharitas.
cafe spiaggia italian - appetizers ~8, main ~12-~23, depending what you get, pasta cheaper than other.
tango sur - argentinian steak no liquor or wine, byob, appetizer and steak doable under 25 or 30.
coobah trendy, can be too noisy or crowded. philipino and possibly cuban mix? entrees top out around 16.
deleece californian style cuisine. very very good. a little more expensive, entrees topping out around 25 or so.
spring mildly expensive but worth it. probably upper 20s, though you can get a prix fix for like 65 that is fantastic.
bistro campagne, french, cheap, fantabulous, good beer selection (trappist stuff included)
rezas, middle eastern, multiple locations, very affordable, huge menu, wide varying price ranges, goes up to probably mid 20s for like a half duck in pommegranate sauce.

learn to use the reader's web site and the metromix site as well. they are actually pretty good sites.
all those places listed you should be able to get out with drinks included for under $50 a head, and eat several courses (if you drink at osteria, it's possible not) you should in fact be able to eat at any of those places quite cheaply. eh, i'll go back and put some avg prices on there. well that took longer than expected.

drop me a PM sometime if you want big piles of chicago restaurant help, i've been to basically everyplace.

I have been there late Friday and Saturday nights, and it's always packed.

I find it's best during an early show or very late on weeknights when there isn't a group playing.

I order from Reza's like once a month. For fish, get the salmon kabob. Not sure about steak though, I don't eat red meat. They give you a crapload of food, so an entree and an appetizer is really like dinner plus lunch the next day. Good falafel too.

For pizza, Lou Malnotti's is very overrated IMO. It's not bad, just not great. I'm a naughty Chicagoan, I like thin crust better than deep dish.
