it's awesome. to be honest, i hope it ends sad. if it ends with a hug, i will be disappointed.

I've seen a few episodes.
It's weird that watching a man fall apart can be entertaining.

I started to watch the episode where he begs his wife to come with him to Vegas with him and she keeps saying no. I thought it was so sad, not because she does not want to go but because he does not trust himself to behave around other women. I could not watch it until the end though, it bored me...

Ever hear the story about how he got a BJ from a prostitute, soon after found out it was a dude, and proceeded to beat the guy within an inch of his life.

He did some time for it.

i know !
i feel really bad, because he is a complete wreck, and probably needs someone like gretchen in his life. but i think she really needs to get out of that kind of relationship. i feel scared for the both of them if she does.!
the episode on sunday was pretty sad , i thought. when he realizes his ' reality show meant to bring in $$ , show everyone what a loving wife he has, and be entertaining cuz that's what he's good at ' turned into him realizing that his his marriage was falling apart on reality tv.

it's messed up that i am anxious for the episode where he slits his wrists /images/graemlins/frown.gif i think it's very sad though

i don't blame you. but i wonder what you would have thought if you caught the 48 seconds of him chugging a bottle of alcohol instead ? it was very dramatic!

the show is great. he is [censored] psycho and it is hilarious.

i think in reality to them, it was just suppose to be another generic reality show. about their crazy lives, family etc.

and trying to make their relationship better (for entertainment purposes mostly, i think was the intention here. i think danny knows he's a trainwreck and just doesn't care, but never expected to really lose gretchen because of it).

but from what i've seen of the show, as danny said in one episode "before , he thought they were happy couple , seasoned with moments of unhappiness, now he feels like they are an unhappy couple, seasoned with moments of happiness" ...

he also apparently is going to flip out at the psychiatrist soon, thinking he is putting some voodoo curse on gretchen.

so far gretchen is simply trying to do some things for herself... innocent things like joined a band that she plays with a couple times a month, had a little birthday party with her girl friends... and whenever she leaves to do something innocent for herself, he flips out, first begging her not to leave , after she does, he goes crazy drinking like a madman , taking steroids , and just getting pretty psycho. he has major anger issues, too. which adds plenty of entertainment value.

in the sessions with the psychiatrist he's basically realizing that gretchen might really leave him, and is now going through some major breakdown.

at the end of sundays episode he realizes this reality show isn't going as planned (he didn't expect his marriage start to fall apart and is blaming the show or something) and they show him mkaing a phone call to gretchen at her little party saying "the show is done, i'm going to have to talk to some lawyers" and clips about him slitting his wrist in the future. and mention of divorce.

it's insane. but oh so very interesting.

i think it's believably real. but what do i know ?
if he is faking it he is an amazing actor. and we are talking about danny bonaduce.
have you seen it ? what do you think ?

i think he definetly tries to play up his craziness and then [censored] just flew off the handle.

gorie
10-04-2005, 10:33 PM
also i am not sure anyone would want to fake being a controlling , emotionally abusive, dependent, psychotic, alcoholic husband on tv when they are at risk of losing their wife. but i dunno.

I haven't seen it, Gorie.

My friend grew up on the same street as he did. He says Danny was a total a*shole and weird from the start. Even when he was making a ton of money on The Partridge Family, my friend said he still came over to his house and stole his bike.

So even if he's faking some of the show now, he's had a bit of a screw loose all his life.

"My life is a car crash, man, and you have every right to slow down and watch the car crash"

Goddamn right, Danny, when you're producing the best reality show in years, if not ever.

Bonaduce has the gift of gab, and his volatility makes the show addicting. Not to mention great editing and music for the reality show. It's a shame, though, that his kids are growing up seeing their father abuse himself.

I avoid that douchebag at all costs. Those of you that are younger might not be aware of the fact that, probably in the early 90's, he somehow got known again. Mainly through the Howard Stern show if memory serves me.

Anyway, he has done everything from talk radio to this kind of stuff for years now and why the public gives him any attention is beyond me. Jerry Springer syndrome, I suppose. He is nothing but an obnoxious bore. Hopefully, whatever problems he is enduring multiply.

I never seem to have time to watch much TV, I'm sure many agree. I propose that Gorie writes these nice one paragraph summaries of various shows, and post them on a weekly basis. This lets us dorks keep up with current pop culture without missing out on other high quality hobbies like surfing the web for midget amputee porn etc.

Thanks.

WOW, just wow what an amazing trainwreck,

Danny, got wasted, lost it over some male strippers, attempted to kill himself and I think lost his marriage. unreal. it's like a best off OOT post put to real life. Awesome

What a prototypical roid-raging short guy with a huge complex.

He rages out for zero and starts to stalk around with his arms flexed up and sticking out at his sides.

I would really like to see what inevitably happens to all these types also happen on this show. One time, they go aggro on the wrong person and get a well deserved beat down.

He's just a total a$$hole.

Two quotes off the top of my head....

"I want someone to ask me if its all right to have stippers in my wife's room! I want them to ask me how I feel first! That's all I want!" He was saying this like everything would be cool if someone just asked. OK....

(to producer, talking about other producer) "Tell him if I see him again, I AM GOING TO CRIPPLE HIM FOR LIFE!"

Then he hops in a strangers car and demands to be driven to the W. (Funny observation - as the stranger peels out, he immediately has to stop in a traffic jam. They got about 20 feet down the road)

Oh sh*t, one more. As his soon-to-be-ex is singing on stage with a band(with a semi-large crowd watching), he stalks up on stage and says into band dudes ear "I need to see you outside." Mid-song.

I feel he may kill someone. He is SUCH a dick.

bump because i have just now managed to catch this amazing show.

just watched the episode where he slits his wrists trying to commit suicide and is admitted to the psychiatric ward.

"trainwreck" is cliche, but so apropos. if you haven't watched this show yet, it is a must watch.

I thought the latest episode was a major let down from the prior week. Nothing really happened besides Danny agreeing to go to rehab which while a big decision for him made for less than stellar TV.

Other than that I still think we don't know if gretchen is leaving him or not and the doc has apparently refused to see him until he gets his drinking under control.

Speaking of the two of them I swear sometimes the Dr. gives gretchen this look that goes beyond the doctor - patient relationship. could just be me though
