The first LATB show of October will be a $500 NL game featuring Kathy Kolbert-Keller of Poker Royale fame. Last Friday's 10/20 NL game featured more bad play by Ed and a few of the regulars as Mo took down the top prize for the best bluff of the night, Stones tickets. As always, watch the show on the liveatthebike.com site from 6-9pm PT and hope some exciting action turns up.

Doesn't he, now? I just wonder when they're going to tighten up. Bart with his black t-shirts and Tuckman with his pink tank tops? I guess it's Bart & Dave that should be in "make-up".

I nominate Ed for Gambler Anonymous Poster Boy of the Year, calling down in no limit with nothing but a naked ace over and over justifies my nomination

10-03-2005, 09:08 PM
Kathy Kolbert is Jack Keller's daughter.

Hey Bart/Tuck... long time follower of the show...
I'm going to be in LA this Tuesday-Thursday to play poker... What is the best way for me to improve my chances to get on the live show on the Thursday? (I know that usually Wednesday you have the whale game so I probably won't be on that). i.e. show up early and get put on a list, talk to someone specific, etc.
Thanks!
I'm from Vancouver, BC and I would be comfortable playing anything 5/10 NL or 20/40 or below... I play a lot live here where poker is going pretty strong.

I'm thinking there was a 1-card royal flush sometime during the show's history, but it was definitely the first flopped royal. Also recall last week Yosh hit a straight flush in the Whale Game.

I'm a little late, was watching Stone Cold's return to RAW. How many bad calldowns has Ed made already?

10-03-2005, 09:25 PM
Thanks for the reply; I would be into playing in that - I'll see if I can contact you on the thursday in person (I won't have internet acces while I'm there in LA).
Do you think it would be a "pink-chip" type game, or just regular NL?

If I flop top set like that after raising, I would rather not check that flop multiway... let's get more money into a big pot and charge the players that like to peel with any two... if you suddently come alive on the turn it can be pretty suspect...

He came back to the table shortly after the broadcast started, I don't think he's had to go to the river yet, but the night is young. It was also mentioned he made back about half of the $15k+ he lost on the show, part of it catching a set on the river against Barry W.

Yo' Bart! I tried out the Party Stud Hi-Lo the other night.

Is there any better feeling than having a wheel on 5th with 4 cards to the straight flush while the pot is getting jammed by rolled up Qs and the 2nd nut low? Poker heaven I tells ya'!

I then get cocky and head to a local casino to play a little live version of the game.

2 lessons I learned:

1. 8 lows suck.
2. I suck.

Kevmath

It'll be a marker chip game, as L@TB has now set up a general schedule.

Monday - Limit Night
Tuesday - $100, $200 or $300/500 NL
Wednesday - Whale Game
Thursday - Battle of the Sexes (4 men v 4 women)
Friday - Bluff Night

Maybe the Jets went with the idea that drafting a Big 10 QB in the 6th round would win them 3 Super Bowls too.

Russ McGinley
10-03-2005, 09:40 PM
Patriots not winning the AFC East would be a total jopke. Miami? Buffalo? Jets? Hahahaha. The starting QBs in that division are:

Tom Brady
Brooks Bollinger
Gus Frerotte
JP Losman

What's wrong with this picture?

Don't dawg 'ol Gus. I used to live across the hall from him at the University of Tulsa and he was...well to quote 2+2'ers...a douche.

So never mind.

Maybe you mean Danny Nguyen at Bay 101 this year hitting the 1000-1 shot when his A7 hit running 7's against some guy's AK that hit the K on the flop.

10-03-2005, 09:47 PM
there is no 1600-1 beat in holdem. nittish i know, but dumb comments annoy me. it is like john madden saying "this field goal will be worth 4 points to tie the game".

10-03-2005, 09:49 PM
Didn't Gus headbutt the stadium and hurt his neck?

Limit more than once a month is not allowed apperently

*No offence to Kathy but she is hardly a "star" worth changing the game for, if that is the excuse.

Yes, a U. of Tulsa product finally gets the start (he's really not that horrible for mostly a back-up role) and what's his claim to fame? Bangin' his own melon against a wall and concussin' hisself. Yee-haw!!

A Gus anectode: Our RA lived directly below my suitemate's room and she was how you say, a little friendly with the football team. Since the two rooms had connecting vents you might know where this is headed. After several bouts of laughter at the sounds coming in through the grate, we headed out for a late night snack at Village Inn. On the way back, we see the RA kissing her hook-up for the night goodbye...yep, Gus.

As he passed by us, my bud. goes, "good game." Considering we lost by 20 the weekend before, I believe Mr. Ferotte was a bit confused.

I don't know if they're doing limit poker this week, but I'd hope they at least mix it up, the 8-16 last week was saved by 1 player acting like a donk. You're saying there aren't 9 players playing 20/40 or 30/60 who aren't willing to play on the show? 8/16 every week doesn't seem like that great an idea.

Kevmath
10-03-2005, 10:10 PM
Tuch, how can you forget Youlette, tighter at times than even the good Dr. BB.

10-03-2005, 10:13 PM
Hey, love the show...especially that Dave Tuchman..his squeaky voice reminds me of the time i trapped my hamster in the blender...so dreamy...

fyi, the last time the White Sox won the Series was 1917. They beat the New York Giants, 4-2. Oh, and the Boston Braves last World Series was 1914..they swept the Phillies. Their last appearance was '48, they lost to the Cleveland Indians. When they won it in '57, they were in Milwaukee.

- yours,
the Spink!

10-03-2005, 10:15 PM
whats the biggest limit game?

Kevmath
10-03-2005, 10:16 PM
What's with Ed betting only $100 on the turn, letting Trac get in cheaply to catch the gutshot. At least Ed made the laydown this time.

Kevmath
10-03-2005, 10:17 PM
I'm almost sure the biggest regular limit game is 300/600 or 400/800but that's usually as part of a mixed game.

Love the show...Tuchman's voice has now gone from hamster-in-blender to a sorta warbly ella fitzgerald record that I left in my trunk for seven weeks...

but FYI, Brooks Bollinger, QB, Jets, who did toss 5500 yards and 38 TD's in 4 seasons at Wisconsin, will be benched this week in favor of the ageless Vinny Testaverde! God, shouldn't all Jets fans just convert to like, Cowboys fans or something?

10-03-2005, 10:21 PM
MILWAUKEEE!!!! They moved from Boston, to Milwaukee, then to Atlanta!!!

Happy Days was also in Milwaukee.
Laverne + Shirley worked at the Shotz Brewery.
Hank Aaron hit his 715th home run as an Atlanta Brave.
Hank finished his career as a Milwaukee Brewer.

10-03-2005, 10:27 PM
I would just like to add that your show is a live-saver for me. I am stuck in the lounge of my college dorm room, watching your broadcast on my laptop. I was kicked out of my room by my jerk of a roommate who's in there with his girlfriend. Hmm, maybe I'll sleep on the ping-pong table...

But enough about me. Kudos on a great show!

Worst. Setup. Ever.

10-03-2005, 10:36 PM
Yep, I watched Aaron's home run live against the Dodgers in 1974. He hitted off of Al Downing. Bart's favorite Red Soxes 1st baseman Bill Buckner climb the left field wall to try to catch it, but it rolled between his leggs.

10-03-2005, 10:39 PM
So..who will win more games in October? The Patriots or the Red Sox? I think it'll be the Pats. What do you two think?

Yo, Russ...you can dish it out, how 'bout joining us this Friday's game and show us what a great poker player you are, since most of obviously don't measure up to your talents.

If you bankroll me and pay for my plane ticket + hotel room, I'm there.

10-03-2005, 10:49 PM
If you're so good, and I'm so donke-esque, you should be able to relieve me of most of my bankroll that covers your trip and a whole lot more. Don't you think?

10-03-2005, 10:52 PM
Bill Buckner played with:

the LA Dodgers from 69-76
the Cubs from 77-84
the Red Sox from 84-87
the Angeles from 87-88
the Royals from 88-89
the Red Sox in 1990.

During the 86 season he was frequently replaced for defensive replacement, but the Sox left him on the field so he could be on the field when the Sox clinched.

Buckner does get a bad rap, but it was Calvin Schiraldi and Bob Stanley that blew it.

that 10-0 Red Sox game had Roger Clemens on the mound vs the Yankees, and he blew most of the game before Stanley came in, including a grandslam to Mike Pagliarulo

Russ McGinley
10-03-2005, 10:55 PM
I hope you didn't take my ribbing during the Friday show so personally (you obviously did). I bow to your superior bankroll.

10-03-2005, 10:55 PM
TUCHMAN IS SO WRONG!

sorry Dave, they never beat Mike Scott. In fact, if they faced Scott in game 7 that year, they'd have never made it to the series. They lost twice to Scott, but beat Nolan Ryan twice, including in Game 6, to go to the series.

No one could beat Scott that year!

love ya,

the SPINK!

buckner carried boston all year on bad knees and should not have been in there defensivly at that point. he was set up to wrongly be labeled a goat after playing his heart out all year.

I hate to admit it, but it's a player like Ed that's been giving me the most trouble as of late.

Players that draw to one overcard (not 2, but 1) or take one off constantly to see if they can pick up a draw have cleaned up on me as of late.

Absolutely no way I can read 'em.

I know, I know, long term.

Kevmath
10-03-2005, 11:02 PM
What year was this game Bart? I'm looking up box scores and don't see any games where they blew a 10 run lead. I've found some 12-11 11-10 type losses.

Russ McGinley
10-03-2005, 11:02 PM

Kevmath

I think I found the game (maybe) June 4, 1989. Up 10-0, lose 13-11 in 12 innings. Take a look here: http://baseball-almanac.com/box-scores/boxscore.php?boxid=198906040BOS

No Pags, but Nick Esasky was in that game. Ernie Whitt hit a grand slam off Lee Smith in the top of the 9th.

10-03-2005, 11:06 PM
As you are mine.

Kisses,

Barry

10-03-2005, 11:10 PM
Of course I call. I'm the original CALLING STATION!!!!!, ask Russ!!!

Ed is hard to play, because sometimes he actually makes a good move. If I was Matt, I would have called, too. If I was Ed, I would have folded when the overs hit. But if he read Matt with just overs, the bet was good. At some point, pocket 9s should be folded preflop with a healthy raise.

Just my 2 cents.

Hey Bart, saw you playing Stud H/L on Party this weekend.
You were playing against Fobol and Bluesfan. Couldn't say hi cause I don't have money deposited with them yet.

Good game tonight...thanks for watching.

Hope we don't bore you too much with our football and baseball banter - we try to keep it as entertaining for you and US...

once again, please feel free to send me a private message with any of your questions and/or comments. As for those of you who have already sent me a private message, I will get back to you tonight - for now I've got to go play some poker and earn my keep.
