Am upgrading my homegame and am planning on getting better chips. Custom clays or maybe Nevada Jack composites. Have seen some of the chip threads on this forum -- thanks to all, especially for the great pics.

We mostly play limit HE & O8B from stakes ranging from $2/$4 to $5/10. Games below and above those stakes not out of the question, and we may dabble in .25/.50 blind NL or some NL table tourneys. We have between 6-8 players most nights.

Now the advice... I want a reasonable and convenient mix of chips without breaking my bank. Assume no-denomination is the way to go, so that for much different stakes, could have the colors mean something different. Also I think ordering custom chips have minimum color orders.

1) What about using US quarters for blinds below $1?

2) If my most common denomination color assignments were $1, $5, $10, $25, then what should my quantities be so I have enough smalls for the $2/$4 nights, middles for the $5/$10 nights, and also have bigs in case we get some single table NL tourneys going?

3) Also, any other advice on preparing to order custom chips? Again, have seen the regular posts regarding sources, brands, use of stick-on labels, etc.

Many thanks!

If you get a 500 set of Nevada Jacks...

150 $.25 chips
200 $1 chips
100 $5 chips
50 $25 chips

What about having a $1, $5 and $25 denomination, and then a no denomination that can be $.25 for your 2/4 nights and $10 or $100 for your 5/10 nights? If you're going custom clay, use edge spots for the other chips and no edge spots for that chip.

I got the following set of asm's for .25/.50 no limit cash games and T100 or T150 tourneys:

120 quarters
200 $1
120 $5
60 $25

I chose this set for 6 person cash games, and 6-10 person tourneys.
