I just bought one -- an Inspiron 6000. Can't tell the difference between it and the non-refurb one I bought for my gf a few months ago.

I bought a Lattitude D610 about 2 months ago and have not had a single issue with it. Typically these "Refurb's" are cancelled orders. when you purchase a new Dell it gets built in Asia and shipped over to the US. Rather than sending it back to Asia, they just give it to DFO. You'll see this more with newer laptops of course. This would also explain why it takes 2+ weeks to get a new laptop vs. 1-3 days from the DFO.

how do you like the D610? I have an inspiron right now which si about the size of the D610 and that was the one i was thinking of getting.

Also - when they talk about the display, the just say like XGA or SXGA. My laptop now has 1600x1200, which would that be in terms of _GA?

I absolutely love it. It's a great mix between portability and power. with both batteries, I can get easily 6-7 hours of spreadsheet time or watch 2-3 full length movies. It plays WoW and BF2 great as well. at 14", SXGA+ (1400×1050) is just fine. I had a 15" 1600x1200 laptop before and that was a little too fine on the dots - plus that system felt like I was carrying 2 bricks. There is no Inspiron equivalent to the Latitude D610. the 600m is close, but has a Radeon 9500 (I think) and single channel DDR 266 slots. Besides, Latitudes just "feel" sturdier and look classier than the Inspiron line. 'course they're a bright penny more as well /images/graemlins/smile.gif
