Brunson and Reese were ecorted off of table 1 and out of the bellagio this week.

And the Doyle Brunson tournament is so close....I can't help but wonder.....

No rumor. It's confirmed. But what they were escorted out for, that is up for debate. However, I can only assume it would involve collusion in an ultra high stakes game.

That being said, can you imagine anyone in their right mind who would have played with Brunson, Pearson and Preston when they all sat at the same table on the same BR?

Please post any details if you become privy to them.

They were tired and management felt they needed a nap.

Confirmed where and by whom? This is a tremendously unlikely rumor.

Well that settles it. It must be totally true if you say so, regardless of the fact you cite no sources.

Doyle has trouble walking, and has been seen with a crutch or cane. Could it be the floorperson or security guard was helping him out of the room so he doesn't bust his ass?

I'm privy to a number of details, and I know some players that have been around a long time:

Doyle, Sailor Roberts and Amarillo Slim shared a bankroll for several years - this included money for poker, and their sportbetting shops in Texas in the late 1950's. They talked poker and sports betting all the time, and these three guys were three of the 10-15 best hold'em players of all time. Sailor kept the sportsbook going after Slim and Doyle quit making book, and he was busted and sent to prison in the early '60's. When that happened, they no longer shared a bankroll.

Forty years later, there are a lot of players who are jealous of Doyle, and Chip Reese has also been an easy target for small-minded people - after being a very successful player for the past thirty years.

If ever there was a group of unhappy, jealous, small-minded people, believe me, it is Vegas Poker players who are grinding away at small and mid-limits, and just can't believe that some of the best names in poker are actually better players than the rest of us.

FWIW, some very good players at this year's WSOP were telling anybody that would listen how bad/lucky/stupid Greg Raymer-Chris Moneymaker-Robert Varconi were. The fact that none of the complainers had a gold-bracelet or even a final-table finish should tell you something about their ability, and probably about their reliability in the rumor mill they feed with their garbage.

FurtherFWIW, if you read things on 2+2 with any detail, you will also see a lot of posts about TV-star players who are lucky/stupid/morons etc. - I would suggest you always consider the source. I know I even posted a laugh about Dutch Boyd having a "meltdown" at a RAZZ final table - but at least he got there, so my bad.

These are guys that play $4000/8000 limit poker. They could easily have just had $1M+ cash on them at the moment that they were taking out of the casino for some reason rather than putting in their box. If that were the case, an escort is standard.

i was just about to post the same thing.

i'm sure all the players who are in the "big game" get escorted out of the casino to their vehicles.

i know i wouldn't want to walk through a casino being known as playing the highest stakes possible in the city, especially if i was 60-70 years old.

Hi pro:

I played at The Bellagio on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. If something like this concerning collusion would have happened, I would have heard of it. My guess is that if they were escorted out, it was done so at their request.

Best wishes,
Mason

Thank you for that detailed confirmation.

This same rumor was posted here a few weeks ago, also "confirmed". So, despite that, the Bellagio let them back in, and they got caught cheating again, right? The Bellagio floor probably didn't recognized them. They may have been wearing disguises.

Posting this kind of obvious rumor without facts to back it up is irresponsible and clueless.

I've looked over some of his previous posts - it wouldn't hurt the forum in the slightest - half troll/half numbskull - (a reverse reraise where you pull back your bet if you're reraised - LOL - yah, that's allowed in every major casino <snort> - but he does it all the time)

In OP's defense, what he claimed was confirmed was the fact that they left the casino with escorts.

10-04-2005, 01:41 AM
normally esp for players of doyle and reese's caliber there sessions unless on a losing or bad night will prob start at say 8-10pm and run till about 3-5am or until the game breaks (which can be quite a while) now both of these players are playing huge stakes and are getting kind of elderly.

so 60-70 year old man, walking to his car in the dark parking lot of a casino (full of desparate and broke addicited gamblers) at 4-5am with a couple hundred grand.....id ask for an escort as well

id ask for a full swat team if i had potentially up to a 500k in a cardboard box or breifcase or whatever i could possibly be carrying

sheeeit - I got nervous walking in Jersey with 500 bucks, and I wasn't a made mark like Doyle -

I'd ask for an escort home -

He also put collusion in the title and the following quote "However, I can only assume it would involve collusion in an ultra high stakes game.".

If there is a line he's skimming real close to it, kind of like pulling a bet back after a re-raise.

It sounds like his scumbagginess is obvious enough that it's not inappropriate to ask for a clarification. Since I've got no idea what you're talking about, and pretty much all the celebrities get accused of cheating/collusion/sucking, could you elaborate, or indicate where I might look for reliable info?

Feel free to post again the next time Doyle decides to sit-in at a game and/or decides to quit playing for the evening.

You are not going to get a straight answer. Clarkmeister probably just posted that for kicks, to see how many people he can get to beg him to tell them why.

Then some of his buddies will come on the thread and make some cryptic comments that seem to corroborate what Clark said.

Seems pretty accurate so far.

All I've heard are the same stories as everyone else about Doyle and Chip colluding.

I posted this in another thread: "I think I recall Clark once said there is (implicit) collusion in the Big Game to such a degree that no non-regulars can win. "

Doyle is paranoid about getting robbed and I dont blame him. In one of his books he describes how he and his traveling companion got robbed at gunpoint and tied up and left on the side of the road. This does not need to happen to a person too many times before they ask for an escort.
