So I'm playing a 55 the bubble and for some reason daicathai shows up and starts yapping away in the chat box in chinese or something, he types about 5 or 6 different things finally mentioning one of the seated players by name but noone responds to him.

I doubt he's cheating in any way but should I report this? Anyone have any idea WTF he was doing? Anyone have this happen to them?

It did distract me. I finally typed something like "stfu dai or speak english" and busted out immediately after saying that if I remember correctly.

If it seems like there was any sort of unfair play going on, you should report it. Otherwise, go join up with these people and start writing angry letters to your Congressman:

If he isn't playing I don't see a big problem. Probably was friends with one of the guys playing.

Since I am swedish I often see swedish chat at the table. Not once has there been anything said that is even in the neighborhood of cheating. I would think even the thickest of colluders would use other means of communication than the chat facility of the poker room.

There are free online translators, I used to use them quite often to keep an eye on those naughty Swedes /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Swedish table chat is as inane as the english one. It is much more painful when you understand both languages.

I think we should be grateful that italians is a minority at the poker tables. Every time I play a Eurobet MTT it is constant italian chatter and judging by my poor italian skill 80% of the comments are about peoples mothers. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

if the chat was distracting turn off viewr chat. I don't think there is much you can do about a viewer chating.

[/ QUOTE ]You would think that, but I was once playing bridge against a pair who communicated something they shouldn't have in French. My partner and I did not understand, but a kibitzer happened to know French and reported them. Again, you'd think there would be more effective ways, but sometimes cheaters aren't the brightest folks out there.

Man your English is good, I would never have guess English wasn't your first language.

Noone is so stupid to cheat using the chat in an online poker site. Online poker is international and much surprise to americans not everybody in the world speaks English.

Sometimes is probably an understatement.

I just gave the empire T&C a quick look and I don't see anything that requires players to chat only in english.

To echo what others have said, why should there be an English-only rule online? If you suspect cheating, copy it and paste it into an online translation program. If they in fact cheated, you have evidence and can report them. That makes it a lot different than a B and M casino in the US and England. I'm sure they don't have an "English only" rule in card clubs in France or Russia, so why should Americans think that everyone in the world HAS to speak their language?

I always chat back with some made up or random words from the player's language.

I was about to write a scathing reply to OP about how Party is an international entity and how it was rude and impractical to expect that a global poker room would be English only, but it does say English only under the "ettiquette" part of the rules. I do however, think that telling the player to "speak English or STFU" is a worse breach of etiquette and I am glad that he busted out.
