View Full Version : Percentage of winnings from high pocket pairs

Over 5300 hands at .50/1.00, my winnings were $494. (yes, I was running hot there)

$123 of that was from pocket aces.
$60 was from pocket kings.
$87 from pocket queens.
$53 from pocket jacks.

2/3 of my total winnings came from high pocket pairs! Is this normal?

If it is, it means that any time you have a stretch of hundreds of hands where you barely get any high pocket pairs, you are likely to lose money or just break even, if all else is equal.

sort of makes you wonder UTG why you would bet anything but AA-JJ or AK.

I've got almost 40,000 hands at 1/2 and $2,400 of my $2,700 in winnings come from AA, KK, and QQ.

Heh, well, there is one probably obvious point here which I will make anyway. If you played nothing but the super premium hands, you would be a big loser over time, due to the blinds. Because of course you didn't just win $2700, you won way more than that but bled away a lot of it all the times you paid the blinds and didn't win the hand (most of the time).
