View Full Version : Adapting From Limit to 45seat SNG

Hi, I've been playing limit for quite a while, but recently I've been going to a poker group that plays a 30-50 seat NL MTT ($10 or $20 buyin) with a quick blind structure. To try to get some practice for this event (which is weekly), I've been playing several $1 45man NL SNG on pokerstars.

Previously I used SSHE by Miller et al. for starting hand guidelines. How should I adapt my starting hand selection for this type of game? How should my choice of starting hands change as the tournys progress?

At the moment, i'm playing very tightly in the early stages then trying to steal blinds more towards the end. As I have a limited amount of time to aquire chips should I play decent hands more strongly than in a ring game?

How else should I alter my play for this type of tourny?

Thanks,

G.

The difference in limit and no limit is so much, it would be like asking how to adjust play if you were a stud player.

It would take a book to go over all the differences, I suggest looking at the pinned topics to start with, lots of good NL knowledge is discussed in there.
