why is this even a question?

it is an activity like jacking off. is playing in an orchestra a sport or a battle of the bands? NO!

I don't understand why people are so insistent on calling certain activities a sport, and get offended if anyone claims otherwise.

example: my gf in high school did dance/ballet, and insisted on calling it a sport because of how hard she trained and how much athletic ability it required. I didn't argue much with her because it wasn't worth picking fights over that, but I didn't see why not calling it a sport was in any way degrading to the activity. Personally I think ballet is an art, and while it does require a great deal of athletic ability, it should not be called a sport and this does not take anything away from it.

And as a former member of the Michigan Marching Band, I will say that no, marching band is not a sport. We're there to support the football team.
