not political - more commentary - so posting here...

what surprised me so much about the headline is it sort of implies that before this law, it wasn't illegal -
sorta makes me wonder what the hell they're doing if they can't prosecute them under current fraud and theft laws.
Although this now makes it a crime to even try....whereas before, it might be hard to charge for fraud and theft if they sent out emails and didn't get a response.
Of course, the vast majority of perps are outside the US...so I don't see the California courts filling up anytime soon.
