Another small pair. I just pushed my previous hand (Edit: not the 77 above, but a completely unrelated hand) and went uncalled. Now i pick up 55 in MP2 (4 players left to act.) Can i push this? Is it an insta-push? Is folding awful?

Hand 1- You don't need to push yet, its too early. Some people may fold this, but i think that is too weak. I raise but play it very carefully.

Sorry for the confusion. I editted my post to word it better. The above hands are 8-9 hands apart. I did NOT push 77.

hand 1: u have >16bbs...why are u pushing? limp in for set value here...

hand 2: u have 4 people to act after u and u have >7.5bbs, so stolen blinds would add <20% of ur stack...if the 4 people call with top 20% of hands, then expect a call 41% of the time...most of those hands they call with have 2 overs to your 55...some have higher pps...u don't win often enough the times u are called to make up for the fact that the blinds when they do fold are too small a portion of ur stack

I fold this at this LVL3 with eight players. I cringe at a limp in EP cuz punks will raise and I'll have to fold, so I am bleading chips. I don't raise cuz 77 is coin-toss against most callers and big dog to any PP that can call.

Ugh, limping sucks, but I might here. Otherwise fold. Blinds aren't big enough threat to move with 77 against 8 players.

If this is an insta-push then I am playing the wrong game. I can easily fold this and not consider it a leak at all.

I understand why you'd be at sea on this hand. 8 people at this level? Wow. No wonder no one has given strong advice on what they would do or not do. I can't either. Damn.

Just can't stand these situations, unique to Party Poker. No room.

With so many to follow, you have to figure someone would call anything less that a push, but, they don't seem to have been happy to play much of anything strongly, to be so many at so high a blind level. But, someone out there has at least a hand that will beat you. But will you get a better hand before the blinds get to you?

I fold, both the hand and thinking about how I'd play this hand.

Depending on the table I might limp 77 sometimes, but I have a feeling that is leaky of me.

the 55 hand is a fold IMO.

On the first hand I pop it to around 125 preflop then see what develops on the flop. If the board isn't scary, I'd check. Most villians will bet 2 high cards in this spot, then you can push over the top to maximize FE. If you just bet out, they may think you are stealing and push all in with AK trying to get you out, and you have a tough decision to make. If the flop comes with 2 cards A-Q with multiple callers, I check muck it without a set, and make a continuation bet if only one opponent and one big card, A,K, or Q.

The second hand I push. I think the chip EV is about neutral, but in terms of the tournament situation, it is definitely ++EV. Sometimes you will win the blinds, others get called dominated by a higher pair. These times will cancel out. The other times you are in a coinflip situation. If you win it, you have a powerful stack that can bully the others and steal blinds frequently as it continues. If you fold, you will still have some FE pushing, but you will have to pick your spots very carefully after the blinds hit you in a couple hands.

Hand 1: Fold. Your position is to early.
Hand 2: InstaPush.

I can't decide if I like this line or not. I'm going to have to try it. I might make it t175 though pf, to represent a better holding.

Assuming from eight left and relatively balanced stack sizes that people are either really loose (and trading chips back and forth) or more likely really passive.

Assuming we are getting to see a few flops, that people aren't constantly raising i'm going to limp the sevens in hand one. We've got enough to play with. I don't like a 125-150 here at all, thats just a little too much of my stack right now this far out of position. I don't mind seeing a flop cheap and having a chance to outplay my opponents and obviously the set factor as well.

Hand two is an instapush for me here, assuming the table is indeed normal or passive and not crazy.

i fold both

losing 50 chips is alot ot you at this point... save your chips for next level.

I'd typically limp the 77 for set value at level 3, especially since your stack is still relatively healthy (might be a different story if you were at t600).

With 55, I've been pushing this type of hand. You're two off the button, you have less than 10xBB, and you have a pocket pair, albeit a low one. Yes, when you get called by a higher pocket it really sucks...but you'll often pick up the blinds here, which helps...and you'll often be called by overcards, giving you a 54-ish percent chance of doubling up (which at this point in the tournament, you'll jump at). That's what I'd do here at a 22...would the more experienced among us consider that a leak of mine?

ok, i did fold both. I thought folding the 77 might be weak/tight, but i didnt want to raise, and limping seemed like a bad play at this level.

Personally, i dont like the 10 BB rule. I think i prefer to play the 7-8 BB rule. You still have plenty of FE, and I'm not in THAT much trouble compared to my opponents.
