That was the intent. I have time to go out and get something, for once, so the best idea will probably get me to go to a similiar style place.

Its fairly new, Pizzeria de la Piazza, only suck thing is it takes 45 min+ for them to bake the pie.

On a side note, this weekend is Hill day, if anyone is in town and wants to party, look for the huge party a couple houses down from Milo's

1) Why am I buying you guys lunch? (Not saying I won't, but a valid reason would be nice.)

2) I'm eating very light today, I have a dinner at an awesome steak place tonight that has a winetasters special (unlimited decent wines accompanied with each course)-and they have a tv in view from our reserved table. Tonight could be the best night of the year.

The father of FoodTV chef Mario Batali owns a restaurant in Seattle called Salumi. After retiring from Boeing, Mr. Batali went to Italy to learn the art of curing meat. Now he cures his own meat on site and makes the most amazing sandwhiches.

I believe I will walk over and have some hot sopresseta (salami with hot peppers), beef tongue or perhaps Mole cured proscioutto, with grilled onions, fresh mozarella and a yummy spread with olive oil and basil.

Yes it is. This is cured tongue, thinly sliced like salami. A bit salty for my taste but very flavorful.

I went there recently and my buddy ordered the tongue sammie. The woman said "ahhh, my favorite. I don't even work here usually, I just told them I would help out today for tongue." My buddy said "I used to do that a lot in college." Nice.

Well, I just woke up, but we'll count it as lunch anyway.

Ru Sans sushi lunch buffet, here I come.

[/ QUOTE ]

All you can eat sushi?

For $8.50

[/ QUOTE ]

Jesus. Is it any good? Enjoy.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, it's not like I'm going to recommend it to LD next time he comes to Atlanta, but it's pretty much up to par with all the Japanese/sushi places I've been to around here. The buffet is pretty plain though, so it's not like you get any of the good rolls for that. Just some nigiri, basic california roll type stuff, and some of their fried rolls.

Reading the food thread and realizing dinner won't be till 9 means I accepted the invitation to chipotle from office pal. I will be getting either hard tacos or a chicken burrito.

[/ QUOTE ]

Normally I would always go with the burrito, but given your dinner plans I think the tacos would be a good choice.

[/ QUOTE ]

Dinners not till 8:30. So I went burrito.

Carnitas, fajita + beans + cheese, sour cream, lettuce, mild salsa and guac. (I'm having steak for dinner, had chicken last night) with the works. One large diet coke two lemon wedges. Having a corona at my desk right and will go out to the fire stairway and have my first ciggarette of the week. This will be followed by a few more coronas as I refuse to work today and will be roaming NYC tonight in search of drunken adventure.

I'll be having the Zankou Chicken Quarter White Plate:

http://www.zankouchicken.com/chicken_zankou_plates.html

Comes with a quarter of rotisserie chicken, lettuce, tomato, hot peppers, armenian pickles, hommus, and Zankou's special garlic sauce. You also get 2-3 pita breads to make sandwiches.

I get a Tahn with it which is an Armenian yogurt based drink to help combat the hot peppers and it goes great with the garlic taste.

I really should win this one.

Similar to my usual order at buritto loco (which I go to instead of chipotle now).

Rice, shreaded pork, fajita mix, beans, cheese, BBQ sauce, corn salsa, medium salsa, and seasoned sour cream. Occaisionally I will go the more traditional route and get guac instead of BBQ sauce.

We had a change of itinerary for lunch.

The company across the hall was shooting a commercial for the Milwaukee Film Festival and they needed extras. In lieu of pay they had Pizza Hut and some soda. So we drove to some church place, sat in chairs on a stage and they called us up and we walked up to the camera and made an inverted arch with our hands (we were supposed to be people auditioning for a hand commercial or some [censored]). It won't get shown on TV but will get shown at the festival so I'll post a link once they finalize it.

While I've already had lunch (free Papa John's pizza), I was considering hitting up the Bell for dinner. I haven't eaten there in forever. What should I order to maximize the likelihood of returning?

Years ago, we used to have brunch at Jekyll and Hyde many weekends. Unlimited mimosas, screwdrivers, and bloody marys. It's just a matter of setting expectations correctly.

I just checked out Cite (http://www.citerestaurant.com/quarterly_wines.asp) . Looks like they usually have a decent cab. I also like the fact that one of the choices is sparkling wine. I would probably have about 10 glasses of champagne and 6 glasses of cab w/ my dinner.

Vietnamese food is very good. However, there are generally two kinds of joints:

Vietnamese restaurants - they will have a lot of noodle soup dishes (pho) and other dishes that look similar to other Asian (chinese, thai, etc.) places.

Vietnamese sandwich shops - these have the most awesome sandwiches, the most standard being roast pork w/ cilantro and shredded carrots and pate. They are insanely good and typically cost about $2.

Vietnamese Food has a ton of french influence in it, and it's amazing. What I like is that lot of the dishes start pretty straight forward, but you can season them yourself with the provided sauces and really make something that fits you exactly.

I tend not to mess with the chicken, go with the pork if you get down with pig.

Edit- Implied in this statement is that French food is good, obv.

I had one of my vietamese coworkers bring in a roast pork w/cilatro sandwich from the local Viatnamese sandwich shop in Garden Grove today, and it was excellent. I take back the bad things I said about vietamnese food. It was $2.35.

I also had the plesure of eating at Crustacean in Beverly Hills this past week, but I would not consider this a true Vietnamese resuarunt. I will say that it is in my top 5 favorite resuarunts.
