I've been thinking that maybe we need an OOT only for people 25 and older or something. I hate sifting through threads about how to ask out a 15 yr old and "gimme props on how much beer i bought".

I'm 51. We've already been trying to establish a "geezer forum" but there aren't enough of us left.

Meanwhile, I come here to find out what an approximately 22 your old kid is thinking when he walks into the no limit section with a knit hat (the kind with those little brims in front) when it's 105 degrees outside. Plus I still want to know what lmd (little Michael Davis) considers amazing sex.

The age limit has always been set too high. We should just have a "College Graduates" forum, and we will get rid of all the school antics, and have people who are either gainfully employed or full time p*ker players.

I've actually thought the same thing myself -- but you would probably need to peg the number at 30.

Until this happens, I usually just avoid threads on topics outside my "world" such as pop music, dating advice, fanboy movie/tv stuff, etc.

I don't know, dude. You're starting to get close to the age where people start getting married and having kids. No way I'd want to read about how Junior made his first poo.

What is wrong with OOT as it is? It's entertaining as hell. Where else are you going to find this density of dumasses who post about all the stupid [censored] they do? I was young and dumber once, too, and I don't want to go back, but it sure is nice to take a break from work and read about how some dude drank a bottle of Jack Daniels and then got arrested while trying to solicit a prostitute while not wearing pants.

It can be hard not to. But part of the entertainment of OOT is seeing the latest news of how young idiots are making a car crash of their lives. The line between enjoyably lame and worthlessly lame is hopelessly murky.

Kind of like, if you go swimming in poop, once in a while you're gonna gulp a turd.

Most people over 30 (like me) don't IM and don't IRC. Well, maybe at gunpoint. The internet (as we know it today) wasn't invented back when we were kids. The closest thing to the internet was AOL and Compuserve - but these services were mostly a waste of time/money (except for downloading cheesy shareware.)

If you were super dorky, BBS message boards via modem were also available. Most were spare PCs run by kids in their parent's basement and only one person could log on at a time and download porn. Life at 19200 baud sucked donkey butt.

Back then an IBM 360 running VM1 was the nuts (or the tits). Also JCL was a pain in the neck as you would make some stupid typo and you would find out several hours later that your "job" JCL'd and you would have to resubmit it.

I saw WarGames on a plane back to the States from Norway when I was about 13. I fell in love with Ally Sheedy and also decided that computers and hacking were very sweet and thus I must have a computer and modem. We got a Commodore 64 with a modem. But to my dismay, instead of the sweet acoustic coupler like in WarGames, the new 300bps modem had the phone line plug in directly. I also decided I was going to program sweet games. Unfortunately, I never actually hacked anything or wrote a game, though. I did, however, download lots of cracked C64 games and make lots of explosives and stuff from BBS recipes.

Wow, all the same here, except the part about the plane to Norway. I'm a bit older than you so I also had a computer before the C64 - a TRS-80 Model 1, with cassette tape drive (no modem).
