View Full Version : OT: I am going to play all day so I can pwm the empire leaderboard.

Well, I today...or yesterday, i guess we should call it, was a horrible day. It was a nice -$3000 one. I havent went to sleep yet and I am hungry, so I am going to go to whataburger, get some food, drink and do some coke and come back home and play sngs til midnight. So, to all the 215ers out there...please stay off my tables so I can at least break even. Also, to anyone else who wants to play all day, feel free to post meaningless results here. I will do the same at midnight. Hopefully I dont fall asleep.

FieryJustice
09-30-2005, 06:07 AM
Well, 0/0/0/4 after the first set, losing to 2 3 outers, a coin flip and me having a 2 outer. If I am down 8 buyins after 16 games, I am quitting for a week.

Move away from the keyboard immediately.

FieryJustice
09-30-2005, 06:22 AM
That would be the smart thing to do.

09-30-2005, 06:33 AM
but the good news is you're in texas, and you have whataburger there to drown your sorrows in.

god I loves me some breakfast taquitos.

FieryJustice
09-30-2005, 06:45 AM
It looks like I am going to be cutting it short, as I am 0/0/1/6 right now mostly due to idiots with 3 outers.

09-30-2005, 06:46 AM
yeah, sounds like a good time to hit le hay

FieryJustice
09-30-2005, 07:36 AM
Well, I am 1/1/2/8 right now, so down the rake, which isnt too bad, considering i was expecting to be down 8 buyins right now. Too bad the tables arent filling up. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

llabb
09-30-2005, 07:48 AM
Nice recovery. If the tables aren't filling anyway, perhaps get some sleep?

Didn't you say you haven't slept yet...but you plan on playing all day until Friday midnight? Why pull an all-nighter if you don't need to? 40 hours awake straight = no fun.

FieryJustice
09-30-2005, 07:50 AM
I am fine with no sleep. I am not fine losing my ass though. So, if it gets bad, I will go to bed. Until then though, i'm grinding it out.

09-30-2005, 08:10 AM
push throught that crap, and go to sleep happy, realizing that good variance is wishing you a good nights sleep.

llabb
09-30-2005, 08:12 AM
Really? What's the longest you can go without it affecting your game? Most people, it's only 16-20 hours.

Me, I start getting fuzzy around hours 20-22, then get a second wind and can do another 16 or so. But I prefer not to, and besides, during hours 20-22, my game would be seriously compromised.

FieryJustice
09-30-2005, 08:19 AM
I dont know...and i'm not going to find out today because i'm losing my ass. So, its time for sleep as soon as I lose these 2 I am still in. It is nice to know that you lost money and cant even play for 20 hours. What a bitch I am.

Oh yeah...I know why I am losing....I have no fold equity and when I get called, which is quite often, I either lose to a 3 outer or fail to win a coin flip, and thats enough to make me lose. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

llabb
09-30-2005, 08:46 AM
I've found myself in the same spot this week. I'm taking a little one-day break, because I am down almost 20 buy-ins this week. Same old crap. Can't win a coin flip, all-in pocket overpairs cracked by pocket underpairs, flopped straights getting busted by the runner-runner flushes, yadda yadda yadda.

I've refrained from venting on this forum, but since I see that you're in the same boat, I just felt like sharing. Just gotta push through it, I guess. Just the other side of variance punishing me for the heater I was on the previous two weeks.

09-30-2005, 09:56 AM
I know you dont need to be told this, but in time those bastards with 3 outers pay you. I took some of those same hits yesterday, granted it was the 22s so its just a "little" different. Good luck with swinging it back around. I have found yelling LUCKBOX while all in helps me win a lot more.

Good luck man, I like reading your blog so hopefully you will update after this little marathon seesion. Also shouldn't you be happy that people are putting all their money in the middle drawign to 3 outs at the $215's? I mean it does suck to lose but you make it sound like you are mad at the players and not the deck.

Also, I figured i'd post this hand, as it pretty much sums up what is happening to me...people make 1 bad play then make another, then draw out on me. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was talking about being awake. This is not a guesstimate. Most people are awake 16-20 hours before it starts affecting them mentally. In fact, most people are awake 16-20 hours per day period. This is empirically verifiable and common sense. I was not talking about playing for 20 hours straight. I understand it was unclear from the post, but that is what was implied by the flow of the thread, from 2 people posting very late at night/early in the morning.

Please stop being an @$$hole and simply correct the error if you feel there has been one, without inappropriately insulting the poster, especially when you are wrong.

Man, stop just stop. That range is just hogwash geustimation again. It is not at all common for people to be able to function properly on 4 hours sleep a night. Some can, but they are very rair. So your range 16-20 hours where 8 hours sleep a day is the max and 4 the min is just ridiculous. The range is actualy 13-17 or 7-9 hours. This is the amount that Most people sleep and has been empiricaly verified.

End of thread hijack.

TOAF-King, I do not intend to enter a flaming war with you. I have responded in kind when provoked, and apologize if I have said too much. Please stop trolling and looking to provoke me. The data supports what I have said, and this is a trivial issue that is not worthy of discussion. There was no point attacking a brief OT statement made in a discussion you were not even involved in.

Since you seem to want the data, though, here is one source I quickly googled: National Sleep Foundation's 2005 Sleep in America Summary of Findings (http://www.sleepfoundation.org/_content/hottopics/2005_summary_of_findings.pdf/).
During the week, on average, 71% of Americans are awake 16+ hrs/day. The data is even stronger when broken down further into the demographic of this forum, which is primarily young males. Besides which, I was originally talking about how long people can stay awake in a one-day period, before it affects them mentally, which is obviously a longer time span than the average amount of normal sleep one gets.

If you have anything further to say on this matter, please take it to PM's, and I will respond if it has merit.

Formula = SQRT {B}*(TN)/R

SQRT= Square root
B= Buy-In of a tournament
TN=Total Number Of players in a tournament
R=player's Rank in a Tournament.

so buy-in doesnt matter that much since they take the Square root. (50+5 = 7points, 200+15 = 14 points.)

It's basically what place you finish in the tourny.

oh, and the # of tournys you play.

WTF?! Fiery, you're #1 multiple times?! How many SnGs do you play a month?!
