Bump for the night crowd. We need at least 50 votes.

This poll is worthless without Public Enemy. They had the best intros ever -- especially "Fight the Power."

"Yet our best trained, best educated, best equipped, best prepared... troops refuse to fight. Matter of fact it's safe to sayyyy -- that they would rather switcccchhhhhhh than fight!"

1. This list is too GnR heavy.

2. You picked all the wrong GnR songs.

once this gets going, you're gonna have to post samples to let people decide - otherwise, they'll just go with what they know...

use this to weed answers, but we'll need samples -

Bittersweet Symphony was good too - but actually, some Verve songs had even better intros...hell, Nick McCabe was a [censored] genius.

Good one.. Those drums have been sampled more than any other song I know.

I like :

Tool - Mantra/Schism (I cheated a little combining two songs, but Mantra plays more like the intro)
Prince - Purple Rain
Radiohead - Everthing is in the Right Place

You guys missed the boat.

I already ran a brainstorming thread. These were the ones people listed. I'm sure there are several left off. Maybe I'll add them to round 2.

Go ahead and list songs you wish to add to round 2 and I may put them on.

Off the top of my head, I'd add a few more (also, I'd at least add the artist's name to your list):

"Roundabout" Yes
"Walk All Over You" ACDC
"Little Guitars" Van Halen

Outros should be done too. That would be an even better category because artists tend to get more creative and wacky at the end. Intros generally have to be short and sweet for commercial purposes.

I think that the intro to Hot For Teacher is arguably the most face-rippingest solo ever.

The best intro is:

Dream Theater - Take The Time

Take the Time's intro definitely (as many their songs do,) but I have a tough time putting it over "Home". There's just something unbeatable about that song played live, and the feeling I get every time from the intro.

ACOS has a really cool intro too, which I was psyched to see used in NBC's coverage of the winter olympics a few years back.

As far as the options in the poll, Foreplay should be getting MANY more votes. Dissapointing.

b/c there r so many people are going to be more likely to pick the top ones than the bottom ones of what they see 1st

Far too many for one poll. Give 10 choices max.

Agree. Now if they could just dump that awful singer and get Geoff Tate, they'd have a real band.

No way Tom Sawyer's intro is better than Spirit of the Radio.

Bleeding Through- Love Lost in a Hail of Gunfire
Not the best song, but definitely a great intro.
