Hi guys,

My VPIP is pretty low. It is about 20%. One of my poker goals for October is to get it up to 22%+. I have a decent grasp of preflop concepts, but of course it can improve... I'm planning on posting a few threads with stuff I wonder about.

You have a marginal offsuit holding UTG: KJo(?).
You have a marginal suited holding UTG: JTs(?) or A6s(?).

Rank on what kind of table you would most like to open raise with the above hands.

A) Most players are about VPIP 50 LP
B) Most players are about VPIP 50 LAG
C) Most players are about VPIP 35 TAG
D) Most players are about VPIP 20 TAG

?

I like raising kjo in all situations. Against the tags, you will generally be called/3bet by better hands, but often enough you will be able to steal the blinds.

JTs : I like raising in all circumstances for shania purposes.

Axs - (speaking about a2s - a8s)

In loose games that have lots of limpers (generaly lp games) and not a lot of raising, I dont mind limping in with these.

In lag games, I fold them. Since they are frequently seeing the river, without a flush draw, these hands are weak.

Against tags I fold them also. They are too weak.

I was intending to ask not about specific hands but various types of hands. I didn't make that very clear though, but I tried to take what I thought was marginal hands.

Thanks for your post! It made it clear some of the things you consider when you play the hands, so you did answer what I intended to ask. Thanks again!
