View Full Version : How long should I play?

I have been playing 5/10 and 10/20 limit for about 9 months now and overall, doing fairly well, winning about 1.5 BB/hr. My question is, if I allocate approx 4 hrs a day to playing, so at current win rate, would win about 6 bb, then if I win big early (say 10bb), should I just quit and call it a day. Over time, am I going to go back to the mean and land up losing some so that after 4 hrs, I am back to 6 bb.

No, your logic is very flawed. Your win rate exists because of the decisions you make. This does not mean you will make precisely 1.5 BB in every hour you play. It is quite possible that you will end a 4-hour session with a loss of 40BB, even playing your solid 1.5BB/hr game.

You should stay in the game as long as the game is good and you are playing well. Take a look at my mini-essay (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=2966113&page=&view=&s b=5&o=&vc=1) on when to leave the game if you want.

Second, how many hands/hours of play does 9 months make up?
