View Full Version : 'do you see why?' + 'holla' = ignore?

I'm usually an understanding, quiet, mild mannered guy who doesn't let things get to him, but I do have my limits.

Is it wrong to ignore a poster for ending a post with 'holla' that also had a 'do you see why?' in it?

Separately, I can tolerate them, but together was just too much for me...

no way you are going to 'win' this poll. You pretty much have 3 options for NO and 1 for yes /images/graemlins/grin.gif

However, I did kinda chuckle at your answers

I just like how YSSCKY became a standard so quickly.

Last Christmas my aunt and uncle sent a pic of their family with a card. One of my cousins is now married to a 32 year old chick with a 17 year old kid, she is wearing a T-shirt with 'holla back' on it.

Is it pronounced like "holler"??

I don't know why, but I always assumed it was a variant of "hola", Spanish for hello, pronounced with a silent "h".

I find it ironic that you're ignoring people who use "do you see why?" and "holla", but you use "stfu" and "ysscky" in your poll - two expressions that are worse

Well, that's kinda why I included them... just a little self mockery...

I briefly considered adding YSSCSIIYP as an option but decided that was really crossing a line that shouldn't be crossed and that I wouldn't be the one to cross that line.

Raptor is a goofball, but more helpful and interesting than many if not most of the hotshot big money posters.

I have no idea where "holla" comes from or why anyone would want to use it.

Do you see why? has always struck me as lame smart-ass stuff, almost always including when used by its popularizer. It also seems to be rarely used in a context in which it really fits.

raptor posted once about how he types in "holla" at the tables and gets people all riled up, so he started ending his posts with "holla" and people started to get similarly riled up. I find it pretty amusing that people get so bent out of shape just cuz he types "holla" at the end of all his posts.

When I see "holla" at the SNG tables, I figure it's someone trying to see if I talk back like I'm recognizing it, and then, if I do, steal my blinds more, since knowing it implies knowledge of this board and therefore how often folding is correct. So I rarely respond. Conversely, someone saying holla cues me in to try stealing his blinds a little more, since he will be less likely to make calls that blow my "any two" strategy when it rears its ugly head.

I overexplained that so it wouldn't seem incomprehensible to whoever might not follow SNG strat much, but on looking at it, I don't think it helped.
