An iPod if you don't have one, and fill in your CD/DVD collection. That's what I'd do, anyway.

not sure about best buy but most stores just give the balance back on a gift card now. untill u get under a certain amount.

I'm pretty sure best buy won't give even the smallest amount of change in cash.

Edit: I vote for DVD's, but best buy's selection can be small for my taste if you're spending that much.

What they do at the store nearest me is load one of their best buy gift cards with the change you have. That way all of the money will get spent there. I bet when you get close to using it up they'll pay you the cash, but in my situation I bought something over the gift certificate price so it all got used up.

I'd put it towards a new TV. I'd pay for about a third of the ones I'm looking at.

Recently bought a new tv and the prices at BB are awful IMO. Otherwise, that would've been my first thought.

Yea i know what u mean even if theres .01$ on there they will still give u the card back. Im 100% sure the reasoning behind this is that most people will just say the hell with the card once its under say 1$. Then the stores get to keep that money so its all profit. Say 1000 people have gift cards there and they all throw away the card when they are under 1$ theres close to 1000$. I think this was kinda a genius thing to do if ur the CEO of a store.

This is incorrect. Retailers do not record Gift Card sales as revenue, and they will not be counted towards profit. Revenue is only recorded when the gift card is spent on merchandise.

My guess is that they record the profit:
a) When the money on the card is actually spent
b) When they start taking their "fees" from the balance on the card after the specified inactivity date.

But, the interest/ROI they earn from the money they're holding for you gets counted immediately.
