My friend said that he went to Las Vegas not long ago but he was under 21. Ok so obviously he didn't get to have any fun gambling but I don't consider "gambling" much fun anyway. He said vegas is filled with a LOT of old people. I've never been but always thought of vegas as a place where the night life was alot of fun, bright lights, places to eat, fine women, bars to go to, places to party at, and fancy casinos. Is vegas any fun if you're not there to gamble? If I went there i'd gamble somewhat but id rather just go out at night and check out the "hot spots".

The old people are in the downtown Vegas part so I'm guessing he was there. I don't see how anyone can call the Strip boring, even for someone under 21 there's plenty to do.

There are a lot of old people in Las Vegas. The average age of a LV visitor in 2004 waas 49 (down from 50 in 2003). If you're from Boston, with an average age of 36 (yeah, college town) that's something of a change.

But chances are you won't be doing the same thing as the retirees, and not in the same places. The Hard Rock pool will look a lot different from the Stardust pool. Those are extremes, but do your research and you'll be fine.

Another Vegas statistic - 93% of 2004 visitors polled were "very satisfied" with their trip. Of the remaining 7%, only about 3% said the reason they were unhappy was "nothing but gambling." So plenty of people are finding plenty to do. source - LVCVA (http://www.lvcva.com/getfile/VPS-2004%20Las%20Vegas.pdf?fileID=107)

You'll have plenty of things to do other than gamble.

If he was under 21, you can strike off the vast majority of the night life, bars to go to, places to party at, and the fancy casinos, and as a result you lose a lot of the fine women.

That really hurts your list. Vegas is still very fun if you don't want to gamble, but if you are also under 21, that kills a lot of your opportunities.

How could it not be fun when you could play action poker, take your beer onto the strip, walk a mile past some of the most awesome hotels ever built, and then get a lap dance for 10 bucks when you're legs get tired.

seriously...it might be you're friend who is boring.

Even under 21 you can still find places to hang out and gamble.

Dude, he's 21. Of course everyone is going to seem OLD to him. WTF does he think goes on out here? Unless you're at the Ex or C.C. there aren't going to be any kiddies for him to hang around with. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

uhh he's referring to old people as in people like 40+... and if you mean kiddies as in people in their 20s, then it kinda sucks that there arent any of them.

Weekdays are slower than weekends.

Places like Riviera and Stardust, while gaining in popularity with younger crowd due to relatively cheaper rooms, are still haunts for blue hairs(watch Swingers). There are younger people mid and south strip, especially between Mirage and Bellagio, and then from NYNY to Mandalay Bay. Imperial Palace is an especially great spot for younger people, particularly cute ladies due to:

1.) Cheap room rates at IP
2.) Karoke bar at front of IP
3.) Cheaper limits at IP, O'sheas, Casino Royale, and Barbary Coast.
4.) Live music outside Harrahs.

If you are under 21 w/o adequate fake ID, fuhgett about it.

If you do not like gambling, drinking, eating, hot women, strip clubs, spending money, etc Vegas will suck.

So under 21 means...no gambling/no bars/no stripclubs...unless he likes golf..your buddy is right, vegas is boring.

I went to Vegas for a week last year when I was 19 for a meet at UNLV. It was still the best trip of my life. True, I couldn't gamble and that put a damper on things but there's no way to call Vegas boring. One night I remember my friends and we met some girls who was in our same situation but had very rich parents and we went up and partied in their presidential suite. Best trip ever.
