A fellow 2+2er advocating betting this river, but I'm not sure if I totally agree. What do you guys think?

Bet 250-300, fold to a raise. Pretty easy bet once he checks behind.

bah rethinking this, button won't fold AK, so we need a little more info...how is this guy preflop (will he cc with ATo etc, does he reraise AK).

What are the chances you think he bluffs here if you check (assuming he was on pure bluff before).

I'd probably bet 200-225. He wont raise you with slick, he'll call with worse ace, and let you if he's got big hand.

Additionally if you dont bet this, he could bet pot with his slick or flush, hands he wont raise with if you bet the 200.

to the people saying in case he has a big hand....he doesn't

Check/call. The flop raise was a move, and he's not calling a river bet because he has trash. If you check, he may bet and you can win money and go spend it on a nice dinner.

You know this because he checked behind on the river.

You don't know this before deciding what to do on river.

I actually didn't even look at river actions, I'm basing this on turn check and the stack sizes, meaning he cannot possibly have a big hand without him being a complete idiot. (Any hand that raises river for value cannot possibly have checked turn)

Bet $200-$275 and fold to a raise. More worse hands will call (many will call with any ace a significant % of the time) than bet (most won't continue bluffing missed flush draws or with trash when you've called a minraise on the flop) and you are not folding. Of course, the worse hands that will bet will probably bet more than worse hands will call, but I really doubt they do it often enough to compensate for the value you lose by checking.

I try to play in such a way that rivers like this are easy bets that will always get a call from most players. Worrying about river bluff raises is a waste of time. Most don't attempt them because they're either passive or because they're smart enough to notice that almost everyone calls anyway.

Yeah, thought I would make more money from a hand trying to bluff this river, and lose less if he was making a move with an 8 or a 6 on the flop and hit....
