Okay, so Vicodin is a powerful narcotic painkiller. An opiate derivative IIRC. Due to a favorable circumstance I have the opportunity to take a Vicodin for pain or soreness should I so choose. I do not have a perscription.

I do not intend to use Vicodin continuously or regularly. I am wondering if it would show up on a rapid screen drug test or on a more sophisticated urine test. I assume it would show up as an opiate. From what I know about opiates they do not remain in your system as long as some other drugs, but I am not certain of this.

I believe my employer can request information on medication I am taking but am not familiar with this law either.

Any good resources on this?

do you know when you will have to take a DT, or are they random? it generally lasts about 48-72 hours in your system

I haven't been drug tested yet, my job currently does not but might start. If they are not random I seriously doubt I would be tested, if they are then I won't get a lot of notice.

It will show up in an opiate screen, as it is metabolized in the brain to its nonsynthetic form.

3-4 days should be enough time to get it out of your system.

Have fun. If you're not used to opiates I would suggest taking it by halves or even quarters. Nausea is not so party.

I have taken Vicodin and been prescribed it in the past. I'm not looking to get zooted. Would just be nice for pain from time to time.

One thing I have found from being on painkillers is that I bowl unusually well. I get really relaxed.

Look at the drug testing FAQs on - erowid.org (http://www.erowid.org)

This site is extremely well done and answers just about any question you can imagine about drugs. Reading the "experiences" on this site is also rather interesting.

If you are going to take vicodin regularly, try to find the kind without too much Acetominophen (Tylenol) in it. That stuff will rot your liver in large quantities.

If you are going to take multiple pills at once this is even more important. Try to find the kind with only 325 mg's of acetominophen, and try not to take more than 1000 mg's of it at a time.

1500mgs of acetaminophen at once is ok IIRC

That may be true for a random headache you get once every couple months. But I would strongly advise taking 1500 mg's of it everyday, for extended periods of time.

Twice a week is probably be fine. Espiecially if you are only taking this amount once a day, not every 6 hours.

People who are on Pain meds usually take them everyday. When tolerance rises, they take more, etc. Sometimes people take upwards of 5000 mg a day. My OP was referring to these situations.

Oh ok, now I understand you.

I was under the impression that one could take around 2000-2500mgs of acetaminophen a day with no problems.

But yeah if you are talking about every 6 hours I can see how it would add up and after a couple of days your liver would have alot of work.
