Do you know any funds based exclusively on sports betting ? What would be the mathematical model behind it ? I just noticed that liquidity and volatility are huge on certain events, so we might end us with several funds like in the stock market.

What do you mean "fund" ???? At first I though you were talking about mutual funds and then my mind wandered to stocks which would make Neteller and awesome stock to buy. But then it sounds like something totally different.

Mark Cuban raised a ruckus last year when he suggested the formation of a hedge fund based on sports betting. The nearly-unanimous response was that the idea is unworkable, since there is no way to place the number of bets, in the proper size, in order to make money. This becomes even more true, as sports books would turn away the fund money if the fund shows a good record.

What about a structure similar to a fund of funds. You would have several specialized " bet managers" and the overall fund money would be split between them. You could then diversified the fund in all kind of sports with its own specialists and just pick the good ones

I recommend doing a google search for Mark Cuban sports betting. It will be more productive than trying to re-hash the discussion here.

Mark Cuban is full of himself and needs to wake up and realize that he is a useless MBA who got lucky on an internet business. Nobody wants to pay for a Mavs game and see some no-talent white guy out there screwing with the players.

huh???... i somewhat agree that his great wealth is right place, right time to the extreme... but i thought he's done a great job marketing mavericks and NBA. NBA could use more owners like him. there was talk of him buying NHL St. Louis Blues from someone in wal-mart family. would be very good for hockey i think.

regarding a betting hedge fund, i just don't think that there is enough volume for any meaningful venture. and then the person mentioned a large player's relationship with the sports books. would be interesting....

i am curious as to rakes or takes in different betting. poker vs. general sports bettting vs. horse betting.
