I have been looking on ebay and 5stardeals.com and have foudn some that i like. well i was reading a post on here and someone said that they had the 11.5 gram suited ones that i was looking at. and then went on to say that they were not really clay but plastic and filled with clay? (i think thats what they meant)...i guess my question is....what key words in the description should i be looking for in order to make sure i get REAL CLAY poker chips...like the casino has. any help would be appreciated.

The weight is a big help. Usually the heavier the better. Some good companies are: gamblers general store, pokerchips. com, casinochips.com, the poker store. Stay away from chips that have "diamonds", "dice", etc. They are usually cheap plastic. Casinocom.com has beautiful chips with real inlays and everything you need, but they are horrible in the customer service department and getting back to you. I bought a set of 700 great looking chips from the gamblers general store- the Bugsy's Hideaway chips and thoroughly love them.

Good luck!

I'm also interested in buying some chips. The "suited" ones are nice and heavy I think but the edge is razor sharp. Any one knows how to get ~11.5g chips (plastic with metal or clay, it doesn't matter) that have rounded edges? Much nicer feel that way I think.

I looked for about a month and the best ones I found were on Ebay. Suited usually go for just over a hundred, but for some reasn (image I think) ones in the bulleted Aluminum case go for the most. You could just buy the chips in the cheapest case and then buy the case separtely. As for the "razor sharp" edges, I think the more you use them, the more they wear down. At least its that way with the dice. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this one.

I have the Dice 11.5 gram chips. They cost $140 shipped for 500 with the aluminum case. I love them. They are not %100 clay. There is a metal disc center surrounded by clay. They have a great "ting" sound as well when you hit them together.

New clay chips have sharp edges. If you want to wear them down a bit without waiting for normal wear, put them in something like a pillowcase and stick them in the dryer with NO HEAT and let them tumble around a while.

I have ordered my chips from Mr. Lucky. I can't tell if he has a website, but I do know he sends out brochures every few months. The number is 800-LUCKY-55. He sells both plastic and clay chips (solid and striped). I bought the solid clay chips ($0.105 /chip) because they were cheaper than the striped (~$0.25 /chip). Of the solids, he has ten colors (white, red, black, green, grey, blue, orange, pink, purple, and I think brown). You can have them stamped for about a nickle a side per chip. I have never had them stamped, so I don't know too much about that. He also has great prices on playing cards. I have bought dozens of playing cards (new never cancelled cut corners) for anywhere between 8 and 16 bucks a dozen. Discounts for half and full gross. The cards I bought were Bee playing cards with casino logos (i.e. The Sands, Tropicana).

I'm remembering these prices from when I ordered about 6-7 yrs back. I received the new pamphlet a couple months ago, but I think it was tossed in the trash since I wasn't ordering at the time. However, the prices have remained the close to the same. He also carries cases, chip trays, filler trays, felt, nylon layouts, full tables, etc. You might call and request a updated price sheet. As a note, if you do order chips, they fewest number of chips you can get of any one color is 25-50 since he makes the chips when the order is placed.

Good Luck
