View Full Version : Tonight's "Lucky" episode- the "anniversary"

I really enjoyed tonight's show- it was good to get back to the darker aspect of the story. This one might be the first one that I DIDN'T think should be a half-hour.... maybe 40 minutes would have been good.

Also liked to see some more of the desperate, degenerate elements of Lucky's personality come out.

The Chinese? couple's "LUCKY!" was a bit over the top.

Anyone else bothered by the obvious car switch (black/white matchup) that I knew was coming? Was that really necessary?

Was anyone keeping track of Lucky's bankroll? Did he end up with any money to cover the loan and vig?

Oh, and he shouldn't have given the money to the loudmouth. But that scene brought up the point again- if he is SUCH a magician at reading people, why can't he read HIMSELF?

Ending was a little weak, maybe, but with the 1/2 hour limit it wasn't too bad.

No poker this week! For this show, that was a good thing.

car thing was totally predictable. I want to know how Lucky can still be the reigning world champion. His picture is still on the wall but if this is the one year anniversary of his wife's death then it has to be more than 1 year since he won the title, doesn't it?

After selling the display, there were some financial issues with the casino.... something about fees for street maintenance.

Helluva toss with that ring too! I'm guessing he was on a balcony at the Polo Towers (Aladin and Bellagio in view) and managed to get the ring in the pool at the Sahara. Figure the odds of that /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Possible plot hole question: Didn't "The Trache" die in the pilot episode? I distinctly remember him falling to the ground, Lucky trying to give "mouth-to-tube" resuscitation, and Lucky wailing something about "why now?"

And I was feeling a little under the weather last night, so I want to make sure I heard everything correctly: Lucky's wife may or may not have jumped on purpose, but she definitely died from a fall (of some considerable height). Are we supposed to be believing that him being late that night may or may not have had something to do with that? They didn't seem to delve into what could've possibly made her suicidal.

Thanks,
-David

I must have missed that episode. Guess I've only seen half of them.

I would guess that he was gambling instead of being with her. I'm sure there is more to it as well.

No "The Trache" did not die in the first episode. I don't remember exactly what happened but they did make it clear that he did not die.

My question is: Is Lucky's wife from the first episode a different actress from this episode?

I didn't watch the credits on either show to check- maybe the official site has something.

As for the death, I assumed that his guilt was in not being there to hopefully stop her.

Seems like there is a lot of story there to be explored (hour-long show could have done it, eh?)

Just watched it on my Tivo. The tone of this episode threw me off at first, but once I got into it I really enjoyed exploring this side of the main character, and John Corbett really pulled off a nice bit of acting. I have to admit I cried along with him. Well done!

The car switch -- yes, you see it coming, but somehow, I think, it made it even funnier. It was a necessary light moment in a serious episode.

"The car switch -- yes, you see it coming, but somehow, I think, it made it even funnier. It was a necessary light moment in a serious episode. "

The car scene was funny, the car SWITCH made me think of the grief I and other gave Mike Sexton about the presumably-innocent "Tiger Woods of poker" comment.

The FIRST thing that popped into my head when I was watching was "PLEASE don't make the black guy take the black car and the white guy take the white car" even though I knew it was coming.... and they did it.

Now, if they had started with the "matching" colors and then switched... it would have been much better.

I watched this show for the first time the other night. Apparently it's a story about a degenerate gambler that hasn't yet gone broke. How does this guy stay in money? I didn't think much of the plot. Kind of a silly show, if you ask me. I haven't missed anything.

This was a Binion's reference, NOT an actual show.

Sorry.

I think they switched twice, didn't they? I'll have to go back and watch it again.

Anyway, does anyone know how this show is doing in the ratings? It's hard to find ratings for cable shows. I've grown quite fond of this little show, and would hate to see it cancelled before it had a chance to develop an audience.

Not to be too much of a pain in the arse, but would someone who's seen every episode and who has a handle on what's going on please summarize (with all necessary details) what exactly has happened so far during the series?

I've caught two episodes but feel like I'm missing some important info from shows that I've missed.

Thanks.

Very brief episode descriptions, but that's the best I've been able to find yet.
