I tend to drop them an email along the lines of "I know this player isn't cheating, but could you let him know that it's against your T+C to discuss during a hand"

I usually warn the player first that their actions could be taken to be collusion.

Edit: If you where knocked out because of it, I'd just report it /images/graemlins/shocked.gif

IMHO, this isn't unethical at all, although it is against the rules.

I always report this kind of stuff.

I also send a note recommending that they stop allowing chat while a player is all-in. Just changing their software a bit would eliminate most of these situations.

[/ QUOTE ]Maybe this should move to SMP, but I would think breaking the rules is generally unethical.

You're kidding right? If this is a reportable offense, chat should just be discontinued. Anybody ever wonder why valid complaints go unanswered for extended periods of time? Maybe it's because somebody has to wade through "this one guy told another to call, and he did and sucked out a straight against me, they should be banned" e-mails.

Someone colluding is not a valid complaint?

IMHO -- this is a VERY weak call of collusion, and if this is terribly upsetting you should be up in arms that sites ever allow chat, period.

I didn't say it is upsetting me, I said it was cheating.

I report this stuff all the time, and usually get a reply in under five minutes, so I don't really see the problem.

Sometimes they ban the players' chat, sometimes they don't. The point is that the site has the players' history and they are in a better position than us to judge whether it's a n00b error or an actual attempt to consistently influence play.

I'd report it, although you already know you'll get their canned response for when this type of situation arises. Although I doubt that the players involved were 'colluding', it isn't ethical to discuss a hand while it's being played and if you can get them a warning about it, might as well try.

Try it in a B&M casino and report your results. I am sure that you will find many people who find this objectionable on many levels.
