**Forgive me if this post belongs in the 'Sports Betting' forum but I was looking for a more unbiased approach and was hoping that this would be the best forum. Thank you.**

In previous years I had a buddy who would run season long NFL pick'em pools. Usually $50 for entry and several hundred dollars at the end of the season to the winner. I always did very well and never finished below second place.

This year he did not run the league due to his time and financial obligations. I have a few random fantasy football leagues that I have joined but none of them are very competitive, just a few friends who will check it once a month and for no money. So far this season I have been uninterested on NFL Sunday, not due to lack of good games but just the lack of excitement for a winner or loser.

I have never placed a real wager on an NFL game before and was wondering if this might be a good way to spice up a Sunday afternoon (insert gambling addict jokes here).

I'm not looking for any large wagers, or for this to be any serious profit or drain on my bank account. Just something simple and cheap for entertainment value. Any words of advice on this? Thanks again.

I been betting on the daily free picks at covers.com, and like whenever I take a bet they are wrong. Whenever I miss a bet, they are right. Its an ugly world.

You dont like watching NFL, but you think losing money while watching it will make it funner? You will lose btw, a little at first and then more and then you'll wish you never started.

If you have some play money and don't have a predisposition to getting addicted to gambling then I'd say go for it.

I bet one or two games pretty much every week. Sometimes more. Never a lot of money though. I am a big NFL fan, but a wager does add something to the game.

Some of my wagers are with friends. Most are with an online sportsbook and sometimes when in Vegas to play some other game in a tight-agressive style.
