1. What exactly is a "sit-and-go" tournament? Is it basically a 1 table tourny where once all 10 players are seated it begins and the top 3 are paid?
2. When referring to seat numbers, where do you start, to the left of the dealer?

Do they fill up quickly enough that you aren't missing out on other play?
Or are you not required to "sit" there until it starts, but register instead and play in a ring game until the tournament is ready to go?

1. YES, but not necessarily only a one-table. Some sites have 2-table sit-and-go

You can play in ring games and they will notify you at about one minute prior to start of the tournament.
