I got a copy of McAfee persomal firewall plus when I purchased my Dell and now my subscription has run out. I keep getting a pop up in the right lower corner of my screen reminding me to renew and have to constantly check "keep doing what I was doing". So my question is: Do I need this part of the software that they want 60 bucks for? If not, how do I get this message to stop coming up several times daily?

remove the program totally. christ, windows XP comes with a firewall that will do as good as that crap.
Furthermore, I run into more problems with customres running this program and accidnetly blocking their own internet access. what a PITA this is.

Remove it all and get Avast. (http://www.avast.com/) It's free. And better.

Word.
Keep using the XP firewall, though.

Windows Firewall is an inbound firewall only, i.e. it offers no protection against outbound attempts at connections by malware that infiltrates your system.
