View Full Version : 400 SNG's in 8 Days Challenge!!!

Degen

Ok so taking a long vacation starting October 4th and just got back from an 8 day trip, so the motivation level at the moment is about a 2.

400 Tourneys at 10% is $4,360 (8-tabling 109's), thats the goal. If I should catch a heater and be up $10,000 at any point I am going to pull the plug and take a couple days vacation before my vacation /images/graemlins/grin.gif

The more money I earn now, the longer the trip can be! If I do well enough here I may even leave the laptop at home and not play while I'm gone!

So who's with me???????

Mr_J said he'd match whatever I do here, and I'm aiming high, 50 tourneys a day for the next 8 days!!!

LETS DO THIS!!!!!!!!!

Mr_J

It's what around 11am in the US, so this starts today??

My aim is to make enough to buy a 12tabling setup so I only have to work 2hrs a day, and so I can try something stupid like 2000 sngs in 2 weeks.

I am in with you. Good luck to us both. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

8 tabling the 22s will be my plan of attack. Starting today with 50 games this afternoon/night.

I'm game bro.
400 in 8 days.
i wont be @ 109s, but i'll plan 4 days of $22s, then 4 days of $55s. quadding 50 a day should take ~ 10 hours, but ill make that commitment, if only for a week and a day.

Thats 80 hours for me, really two weeks "work" at a 9to5, condensed into a week. I'll need a vacation too. You figure 5 hours a day for you to do them, 8-tabling? But i feel im just not learning anything when i go beyond 4 tables.

So...Monday 26th untill Tuesday the 4th?

I'll give daily summarys if others are doing the same. Degen, if you set 10% goal, i'll gun for like 15-20% at my limits. you oughta out-earn me significantly, but ill give you a pacer benchmark to keep ahead of /images/graemlins/cool.gif

sweet! we're gonna make a lot of money boys!!

ya start today (26th) then tomorrow, wednesday, thurs, fri, sat, sun, monday the 3rd will be the last day...my plane goes out on the 4th.

i think i may try continuous today...my results with that in the past have been poor, but so were my results 8 tabling until that just clicked one day

8-tabling continous and i should be able to do this in under 40 hours

daily updates for sure, from everybody--GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I'll make a 100 SnGs + playing Dungeon Siege II from start to finish in four days challenge.

09-26-2005, 03:07 PM
I'd love to do this when my 2001FP comes. But I do have school... I'll decide when the monitor gets here, because it might as well come next week (I don't know how fast dell is overhere.)
Now that I think about it, I'd rather first STUDY sng's for 8 days, then have an 8 day marathon. (50 a day 8-tabling is NOT really a challenge, I can do that after school /images/graemlins/wink.gif). Because I don't have a lot of confidence in my game since the biggest downswing in my short poker career.

Oh and btw, I love threads like this. Keep 'em coming. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Degen
09-26-2005, 03:21 PM
alright alright alright alright

enuff with the 'my grandma could play this many sng's in her sleep while doing all my laundry and baking me cookies' crap

lol the limits are big, i like to take a break between sets so i'm not on positive or negative tilt (because most sets involve either a large up or down swing)

for me to play 50 in a day i am usually at the office for well over 8 hours

being self employed and (sorry if it sounds brash) making this kind of money, its hard to motivate myself to play for that many hours in a row...so most days its two or three sets and i'm done

i'm actually gonna start the day 8-tabling the 22's to see if i can do it continuous, but i'm not going to count that toward the 400...at 3:00 anybody playing the 109's better watch out!!!

GOOD LUCK ALL!!!!

400 is an attainable figure even 4 tabling if you can give the hours ( i guess i will, sigh), so im piqued. I'll run two monitors, but only 4 tables. Its the longterm right move for me, i still can ponder/rationalize and improve. yall that will 8 them in half hte hours rule, you will have +santiy in a week, har ! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

09-26-2005, 11:00 PM
I don't think that I can do this challenge, because I rarely play 50/day while 8-tabling (unless I need the money).

I guess I might as well try-- though I leave for a vacation late Friday night, so I'll shoot for 250 SNGs in 5 days. Mostly at the 109s, though maybe a few 215s and 50s thrown in.

I generally only play during peak hours now, for no more than 3hrs./day --- but when I used to play a lot more, I always played different limits depending on # of players online and found it to be more profitable.

So that's what I did today. Unfortunately, the 55s were a waste of time for me today and I never adjusted properly-- playing a little too loose.

***edit-- I sort of bungled my explanation, so this is my simple one: I usually only play during prime hours, and when I play out of prime hours I usually step down a limit.

Even if other posters think this is a silly challenge while 8-tabling--- this is a lot more SNGing than I've done since graduating from the 30+3s. It's double the hours I usually put in.

Today I felt like I played really badly-- made a lot of mistakes and foolish plays. I'm very surprised that the numbers turned out good:

Degen
09-29-2005, 05:55 AM
mine are all party/skins but in my small sample of Stars 100+9's (108+9?) i do recall them being significantly softer...problem is they don't have the R word over there, and also you can't have 8+ of them going at once easily due to them not running often enough

09-29-2005, 06:17 AM
haha, I wish my sng's were expensive enough that the R word was more than my weekly gasoline bill.

I think Im gonna have fun here at the $22s... my br is too small, but these are WAY more skill dependant, so then I can bring some money back over to party and make some ...R word.

anyways, sry for hijacking, but figured this would get an answer.

Degen, have fun on the trip! And just remind your girlfriend that the late nights bought the first class tickets.

Or, when you're in coach and a baby is screaming and kicking the back of her seat, look over and sweetly say, "Im glad we spent more of those primetime hours together baby"

Degen, have fun on the trip! And just remind your girlfriend that the late nights bought the first class tickets.

Or, when you're in coach and a baby is screaming and kicking the back of her seat, look over and sweetly say, "Im glad we spent more of those primetime hours together baby"

I just got my 2001FP today. My 19" CRT looks really small next to it. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Played 3 sets of 8 and I'm down a bit over $100 with some really shitty luck on the bubble and ITM. I'll start a 400 SNG's in 8 days challenge tomorrow. I was thinking about doing more, but I have this school thing to learn for. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

might want to ease your way in...play 4 total at first, two on each, them move them around and stuff...get used to it

there is a learning curve but its definately worth it

You should ask raptor to post a pic of his now 20 table setup.

Hmm.. I'm already used to 4, obviously, and I have no problems with 8-tabling I think. I don't know my ROI yet, but so far it's been mostly bad luck (or leaks I would have anyway) that has kept me from winning. But the sample size is ridiculously small of course.

I think it's very easy to 8-table, unless you want to get a read on each player (like Gigabet? /images/graemlins/shocked.gif) and try to follow all the action. That, I cannot do. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Mr_J
09-29-2005, 04:20 PM
You could just try adding a table a day.

Or you could try 10+ tabling for a day or 2 and then dropping back to 8. 8 will feel like slo-mo afterwards.

09-29-2005, 04:25 PM
Before the 2001FP came, I played with a crappy old 15" as a second monitor for two days. First I played 6 tables, then 8 (with overlap). Maybe I'm now used to 8, because with the old monitor it felt pretty fast, but now I'm already reading this forum in the early levels because I'm bored. I should stop doing that. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

And this is pretty off topic.. How are the 400 SNG challenge people doing?

the feeling is utter and complete complacency over here

i can't motivate myself to keep playing lol

i've played no more than a couple hours each day this week...i'm not even going to make it half way to my goal of 400, possibly not even 1/3rd...when the money falls in like this it is uber hard for me to keep pounding away at the tourneys

I know exactly what you're saying.

I find it hard to play more than a couple hours if I'm doing good, and play the most when I'm doing not-so-good.

It's a bad combination of laziness and stubborn-ness. It's a definite psychological leak.

When I'm on a heater and feel like quitin early I try to tell myself to earn all i can before it turns around. Anyways my results over the last 4 days:

$20+2 SNG's
311 played
48 1st
38 2nd
40 3rd
185 OOTM

ITM = 40.5%
ROI = 28.3%
Profit = $1938

09-30-2005, 01:35 PM
I played 37 SNG's so far today. I just did 4 $22's and 4 $33's for a change, because my bankroll is over $6k, and I'm getting bored with the $22's.
Only one second in the 4 $22's, but my set of $33's went like this: 1st, 1st, 3rd, 1st.

286% ROI BITCHES!! I'M THE BEST EVEERR!!11 Is this sustainable? Should I quit my job (oh wait I have no job..)

Here's a hand I thought was funny.. (I'm bootatata.. the name doesnt mean anything /images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

Since we're OT, have you been finding what raptor says to be true about the 109'ers?
i.e. Do they generally play fairly tight early and a fairly good bubble later, somewhat similar to a 2+2 game?

Thus, the right way to play is to have a goot early game and actually know how not to fold everything other than pairs and AK.

215's not too many

109's around 500 now, ROI is now around 25% but has been pretty steady in the low 20's for the last couple hundred...ITM 38ish

w00t! This whole forum is a joke, while the real good players have all this secret knowledge, and make their money off of us, the predictable 2+2'ers! It's a conspiracy!!1!!!!111

When I work my way up to the hundreds, I'm going to kidnap all your friends and families until you tell me everything you know.

BTW, I think telling everything on this forum 'publicly' *does* have an effect on the games, and our ROI's we can't ignore. This forum keeps getting more popular and there are probably way more lurkers than posters.

10-02-2005, 06:17 AM
but the truth of the matter is that for MOST PEOPLE (I mean you degen), getting good enough to drastically change our roi's is gonna take work ethic, and most people dont have it.

knock on wood.
