I finally got around to seeing this last night - all I can say is wow....

it's sort of a condensed version of 300 years of Russian History shot at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. It's also one continuous shot the whole way thru...

but visually, it's incredible...

this movie was really slow, boring, and dull IMO. Hard to follow and appreciate. I only watched an hour and gave up.

If you watch this movie and miss the ball room scene you are really missing out.

Hard to not appreciate when you realise it is all one shot.

This is an incredible piece of film history imo.

even if it was multiple shots, I'd think it was a great reenactment of certain historical Russian periods...

summary....it's a one shot movie - all 100 minutes, but it goes thru the winter palace in St. Petersburg recreating historical things that happened there so you get a 300 year history of Russia thru the people and the events...

the WWII one really caught me off guard..
