Hey guys, first post in this part of the forums.

I recently got sent a link from a person from my buddy list on AIM. Stupidly, I clicked it and apparently I contracted a virus. No biggie right? Well, during this last week, my anti-virus had been acting funny and I unistalled it (with the intention of putting it back on shortly after).

As I clicked it, it sent links to every single person on my buddy list, and the computer started freaking. I am currently scanning the computer with the university anti-virus (I go to university of NE-lincoln), and I have yet to see the effects of this virus.

So what are the effects? Has this been discussed before? Are there any solutions that you guys can offer me? Any way to destroy a (potential) virus on the computer?

Thanks in advanced. I apologize if this has been discussed before, but my search yielded no results. Any sort of help would be great.

They both offer free online scans. Either one should hopefully find and get rid of the virus that is on your system.

Hard to say what the effects of the virus are without knowing what it is, but chances are it will just keep emailing or send IM's to your friends.

Might also be a keylogger.
