I would sincerely appreciate the feedback of a poker enthusist who has run a home poker tournament.

I'm hosting a NLHE tournament for 24 people.
$50 gets you $1000 in tournament chips
$50 add-on gets you $1500 in tournament chips

I have 500 chips (150 white/200 red/100 green/50 black).

-How much should each colored chip be worth given the number of players, buy-in amount, and one ad-on option?
-Do I need more chips or can I make it work with 500?

I host home tourney myself. I can try to help you on this.

Yes I do belive you are a little short on chips but lets check if we can come up whit something.

24 plrs whit T1000 each = T24,000
From past experiences, I belive you will have around 20 re-buys at T1500 each = T30,000

Ok, so we now have a estimated T54,000 in play.
Making blacks worth T1,000 will ensure you cover that

Now the stacks.

Whites = T25
Reds = T100
Greens = T500
Blacks = T1000

To make this work you are going to have to give some players stacks whit different denominations.

11 players get stack "A":
4 whites (T25) = T100
4 reds (T100) = T400
1 green = T500

13 players get stack "B":
8 whites (T25) = T200
3 reds (T100) = T300
1 green = T500

Whit those stacks, you got 148 whites in play out of 150. Make sure you mix player whit type A and type B stacks so they can make change to each other when needed.

reds: 44 in play, 156 left
greens: 24 in play, 76 left
blacks: 0 in play, 50 left

The reds left will serve you for color up when the T25 won't be needed and 1 black + 1 green will serve for rebuys.

Now whit T25 being the smallest denomination, the obvious 1st level would be 25/50. If you prefer to slow things down, I suggest you use the following as 1st three level:

Lv.1: 25/x
Lv.2: 25/25
Lv.3: 25/50

Hope it helps and good luck!! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

When I said 20 rebuys I forgot the "1 rebuy max" rule. You probably are going to get less then 20 for sure, witch is ok. My guess would be more like 12 rebuys

Thank you for your breakdown of the chip amounts for each player. It will certainly further help organize my tournament. I'll let you know how it goes!
