"I'm not a businessman, I'm a business, man"

"I ain't sayin' she's a gold digga but she ain't messin' with no broke n***a"

These are a) not that clever and b) extremely overused. Discuss.

Showing off your ass 'cause you're thinking it's a trend
Girlfriend, let me break it down for you again
You know I only say it 'cause I'm truly genuine

Well, no one I am ever around constantly quotes rap lyrics, but I'll tell you what rap lyric needs to stop being made:

Comparisons to Ike Turner when describing a beating. It was only kinda clever when Biggie did it, but when Kanye West does it AN ENTIRE DECADE later, it's just tired tired tired.

I'd like to add something that can never be over used,

I wish I was little bit taller,
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
and a '64 Impala

I wish I was like six-foot-nine
So I could get with Leoshi
Cause she don't know me but yo she's really fine
You know I see her all the time
Everywhere I go, and even in my dreams
I can scheme of ways to make her mine
Cause I know she's livin phat
Her boyfriend's tall and he plays ball
So how am I gonna compete with that
'Cause when it comes to playing basketball
I'm always last to be picked
And in some cases never picked at all
So I just lean upon the wall
Or sit up in the bleachers with the rest of the girls
Who came to watch their men ball
Dag y'all! I never understood
Why the jocks get the fly girls
And me I get the hood rats
I tell 'em scat, skittle, skibobble
Got hit with a bottle
And put in the hospital, for talkin' that mess
I confess it's a shame when you livin' in a city
That's the size of a box and nobody knows yo' name
Glad I came to my senses
Like quick-quick got sick-sick to my stomach
Overcome with my thoughts of me and her together
Right?
So when I asked her out she said I wasn't her type

I think rap should just disappear and cease to exist in its entirety, so I advocate full removal of any and all rap quotes.

OK, I admit the first time I heard it I thought it was nice. But that song is so horribly overplayed, and so many people that I know say it or make other reference to it like having in their AIM profiles, naming fantasy football teams after it, etc. that I want to puke every time I hear it now.

im sure it's even older than that.

i just googled in quotes "wave your hands in the air" and got over 16,000 hits on that. just seems like one of the most over used lines in rap's short history.

i cringe when i hear it. using it may be one of the most uncreative things a rapper can do. they need filler on their single and they dont need to pay royalties, i suspect, to repeat this line 5x over since it's probably public domain. BAM that takes up a minute of time. print. it's a record.

I love it when you call me big poppa
Throw your hands in the air, if youse a true player
I love it when you call me big poppa
To the honies gettin money playin niggas like dummies
I love it when you call me big poppa
If you got a gun up in your waist please don't shoot up the place (why?)
Cause I see some ladies tonight who should be havin my baby; bay-bee

Hijack- this thread got me thinking about how many times the show "murder she wrote" has been referenced in rap songs. Offhand I can think of that Eminem song, Lil' Kim in "all about the benjamins", and that dancehall-sounding song "murder she wrote".

Kind of funny considering the show has been off the air for like 15 years and its target audience was 80 year old women.
