Wife and kid went to sleep early, and I just got paid so I moseyed over to the cardroom to play 'that game'. After about an hour I was down 40 bucks and impatient with the speed of the hands so I bailed for the Indian casino for a little 21.
Total loss for the evening: $200.
Back in my single days that would be 'meh' but with a small kid and things are kinda tight it stings. Overplayed my roll for sure.
Now she who must be obeyed is pissed.
D'oh.

2) This should be in general holdem if you want poker advice, but you should basically have a poker roll that you use for poker, which would mean that you wouldn't have really lost anything at all out of the household money, right?

3) Do you count cards in 21? Like, where's your edge coming from? Just curious...

I could afford to lose it. It was overtime money I made working on Labor Day. It just stung, that's all. I could easily cash the amount out of the online roll.
Wives don't see things that way however.
-EV nits crack me up. I'm not going to be playing anything like 'the long run' of 21 hands in my lifetime, though I did get into (un-named game) as a result of card counting.
This place uses CSM's so I play basic strategy. It's strictly a variance thing which was not on my side last night.
If it didn't sting to lose, you didn't bet enough.
Which makes you a nit.
Edit: Oh yeah. Forgot the best part. She says this morning that she knew I would lose because my horoscope said I shouldn't gamble yesterday. So it was in the stars. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
