View Full Version : Anyone have experience with Stars turbos?

09-23-2005, 06:38 PM
I've been playing the $5+.50's on stars, wondering if anyone has any experience with the $6.50 turbos (or maybe the $12 turbos). It seems like this is more of an all in luckfest, but perhaps my opponents won't understand when to push with a short stack/ Fold equity.

Any Tips/Help appreciated. (If it helps, I've got like a 40% ROI at the $5's, so I understand how to play the 10 min blind structure well IMO.)

i've played like 200 6.5's (4-tabling) and i definitely prefer them over the normal structures. they go faster for one, and the blinds don't go up fast enough (and the stacks are large enough) to hinder the edge of a good player (maybe increase your edge).

I played two $15+1 turbos at Stars this afternoon. One opponent was at both tables and managed to put chips into the pot exactly once when he wasn't in the blind (63 hands). He finished 4th and 7th. I think we constantly over-estimate the skill level of the average low entry fee SNG player or at least don't recognize that there is a bit of dead money in every SNG.

FWIW, which is probably next-to-nothing, over my too-small sample size, my ROI is higher in the 6 turbos than the regular 5s. And, my ROI in the 15 turbos is higher than in the regular 10s.

Sweet, thanks for the advice. I played 2 of these like a week ago, but i'm gonna fire up a set of them tonight.

Played around 10 tonight, they went ok i guess. It really does have a lot of variance it seems, with all the random pushing at the end. Might try a few tomorrow, or just go back to 5's. Thanks to everyone for sharing your ideas.

Myself, Durron and Bluefeet are the resident Turbo guys at the 27's. There good and in my opinion offer alot more room for maneuver then PP. So no, not a luck fest.

I play the $6.50 turbos and love em. I hate the $5.50 way too slow. I want to play more so bad beats dont mean as much. I need to get a CRT or something so I can get no overlap.

Ok so I want to play the $6.5...( I will attemmpt a cashout and I will need to rebuild)
The questions are:
a)ROI I can expect?
b)How long do they take?
c)How many buy-ins do I need?
d) How many tables I can play at once?
