Hi, I'm a limit player, but sometimes fish I buddy list are sitting in NL games and I feel like I'm missing out on free money by not knowing NL, so I'm trying to learn. Thanks for any advice you can give me and I may ask a lot of questions, so sorry in advance.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

Reads: I'm fairly new to the table, and I'm not sure if you're supposed to read PT stats differently for NL, but MP2 was slightly loose and passive.

BB checks, MP2 takes a long pause and checks, I check.

River: ($80.50) 6/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (3 players)
BB checks, MP2 bets $40

I stopped at the river but I'm not sure my turn check is right either.

Turn check is good. Two opponents called your pot-sized flop bet after you raised preflop. I don't think MP is betting 1/2 the pot into two opponents without a hand that beats KK here. This type of line is usually a poorly played straight or set. Fold river.

If he's passive, you can fold. He's betting into multiple opponents on the river, one of whom was the preflop raiser. Unlikely he's doing it with a hand worse than top pair. And PT stats are read the same, but the threshholds between passive/aggro, loose/tight, etc. are different. Try just posting the actual numbers at least for a start and see how people read them.

Thanks, good to know about the PT numbers. He was 29/0/1 but this was a very small sample of hands, maybe 30-50.

29 is positively rocky. (Well, not really, but you'll see what I mean as you play more.) My favorite fish are more like 80/2.

Yeah, mine too. This wasn't a fish I followed to the table, I was just playing 2 tables last night trying to get into it.

Oh, I understood that. I'm just saying that 29 really isn't THAT loose in these games. I'd say over 40 is really loose. Over 30 is somewhat loose. Over 25 is only slightly loose.

That's not really a 'fish' now is it? (But I agree that I LOVE playing against the maniacs.)

You don't think so?
