View Full Version : OT: Personal Quest Results at the Halfway Mark (500 $22 SnGs)

Finally I'm on a two week break from uni. So I decided that I would play poker and figured 8-tabling 60 $22 SnGs per day would be easily achievable. So, 10 days 60 Tournaments $5 profit/tourny for $3000 in two weeks.

I kept this rate up for 1 day. For me at least, 8 tabling for 5 hours is so intense. And I guess I just don't have the concentration to really keep it up for so long. So yeah I've brought my overall number of tournaments to be played in this break down to 500, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make that.

Luckily for me I've been running hotter than ever. Games 101-200 I averaged 76% ROI /images/graemlins/grin.gif. But it seems more I win above my expected $5/tourny the less I want to play because I feel the money isn't mine but I don't want to lose it back.

I'm hoping next week I can maybe win another $1000 and hit my goal of $3000 even though I won't play that many tournaments.

Thanks for following my progress.

Good results so far.

This is going to seem pretty obvious I think but what about playing in two three hour sessions with a breakin between to rest? 8 tabling the 22s continuously (which is also less stressful than in sets) should yield 32 tournaments on average per 150 minute session. Then rest for an hour or two, relax and bust out another 32 or so. I have trouble playing well for more than 3 hours straight so I break up my day that way.

I hate you. I've never had a run like this.

Nice work though.

I like the stats from about 180 to 210. I could really use one of those right now. (But obviously, you are running hot, and you know that.)

Nice work. I think you should complete your planned number of tournaments. If you quit early to keep from "giving back" some of your rush, you'll have a harder time getting started again. Man, that graph background eliminates my need for a daily drop of acid.

try to think about poker differently
you are an $X/tourney player
every tourney you make $X, regardless of what place you get
the more tourneys you make, the more $X you add, the more money you make
heaters do NOT have to be followed by coolers...you could just win exactly $X/tourney in 10-tourney steps the rest of your career and over time that would lessen the effects of this heater until you converge to $X/tourney

you have two options:
quit now and never play again and run with your 2k profit
keep playing and keep growing your br (assuming you are a positive player)

if you choose option 2, then keep playing...play as many tourneys as often as you feel comfortable with...every one earns you $X

Good post. I have trouble thinking like that.

I win $200 in my first set and often quit as I don't want to finish the nite even. Stupid logic hey?

It depends. If you play a high volume on normal and losing days, time off is usually something that is needed. I don't mind taking a break if I am happy with the amount I made for the day, even if it only is in 8 tourneys. Especially since these days I think I am not playing all that much worse when I have a losing day.

I think that if I felt I had to do 50 SnGs/day without exception 365 days a year I would go slighly mad. Those 0 or 8 tourney-days are breathing holes.
