it's a good deal for this monitor.

but (ahem) my deal a few threads down, for the 2405fpw, is much much better.

you basically get a much better monitor for the same price (but do need to sell the computer)

Thanks for the info. I am considering getting one.

Thread hijack:

I just read AncientPC's monitor thread and I was wondering why there never seems to be any talk about the Samsung 214T (AncientPC's thread says the Samsung 213T is the second most popular monitor, but from looking over the Samsung site I think this must be a typo). Would anyone care to compare these or say why they prefer one or the other? Additionally, if anyone knows what the 214T goes for, that would be helpful - I can't find the price on their site. I'll keep looking.

I don't think you can "buy it now" for cheaper than this.

Keith Fellmy
09-24-2005, 10:29 AM
the ones that are cheaper than a "normal" price are usually damaged but still usable. I saw one on ebay the other day that said the auction was for the moniter only. No stand or power cord came with it. So who the hell wants that.

READ THOSE AUCTIONS CAREFULLY. READ THEM LIKE THE T & C's OF A CASINO YOU ARE GOING TO PLAY. Very important to read every word the seller has put in the auction. You may find a good deal and then shipping is outrageous. Most of the auctions I see, the moniter sells for 450 and then shipping is anywhere from 40 bucks to 80 bucks.

If you buy it from Dell you get piece of mind too.

One of the worst auctions I won was a two tape set of Lil Kim's first two CDs. The auction went for 80 cents. Cool? No, not cool!!! Shipping was 5.99 (when I complained about the price the seller said I should have asked before bidding). So I paid it and guess what...it was one tape with the CDs dubbed onto it. So she got turned in for bootlegging.

My rule: no shipping price listed (or that calculator thing), then no bid from me. IF the item sells low then they jab you with high shipping.

Your movies are pixelated? Is this common using DVI? Has anyone else experienced this?

whiskeytown
09-29-2005, 12:52 AM
no - put it this way...

whenever you get ANYTHING really high quality, it tends to bring out imperfections in compression/material - When you get flawless digital recording, the hiss of an instrument is easier to hear, etc...like the way normal TV has easier flaws to spot on an HDTV -

The movies in question aren't pixaliated (except my small downloadable ones) - DVD's look good, but I just noticed that my desktop picture, which when lo res. and fuzzy looked awesome, now doesn't hold up as well.

but no biggie...I"m happy...

Dang, you guys finally convinced me, but the code expired. I tried calling them at a friend's suggestion, but they still wouldn't let me use the code, and couldn't beat the $527.30 price. He also said they wouldn't be this cheap again ever, and then tried to sell me some timeshares in Florida (no, wait, the Florida part was my imagination). My weak-tight play foiled me again!

The peer pressure finally got to me, too. I've been 4-tabling with no overlap for two nights now, and it's pretty nice.
The way I convinced my tight-fisted, money-grubbing brain to do it was to tell it that the Multipoker $500 bonus actually came in the form of a monitor. Also I said, "If you allow just this one extravagance, then I won't bother you again and I can go back to killing you with beer."

Okay, so I have to relay this information to the boards. Yesterday at about 5:00PM Central I ordered two 2001FP's. This morning at around 11:00AM Central they arrived. I bought no special shipping (just the standard 3-5 day option), and the things showed up 18 HOURS after I ordered them. Granted, I live in Dallas, so that could have something to do with it.

Still, this is really fast service. Unbelievable.

P.S. - What does suck about the service, though, is how they don't knock on your door even...they just drop the boxes off at your front door and leave. I'm lucky I heard them stumbling around out there, because with the way my street is laid out, I hardly ever use my front door for anything. They might have sat outside in the sun for hours or days or until someone walked by and stole them.
