Don't wait for the turn. How are you gonna feel if you see spades on the board later on?

I would probably raise around 4-5$-ish. Calling and beting turn is ok too imo, but be careful with those spades

how might I continue if a spade falls? Give him credit everytime?

The SB could have anything and since you have position, a raise allows you to 1) see if SB is getting cute with a monster and more importantly, 2) project a wide of variety of hands and allows you many more options post-flop. Also, if you raised, it is unlikely he puts you on a 3 and you stand a better chance of getting paid if he has a hand.
