Two hands previous he had bluffed a paired board on the turn. I called down w/JJ, he had A9o- no pair.

He's been very profitable so far. My question is about my turn raise. My plan was raise-fold to 3bet. Is this the best line. Too weak.

why would you raise a guy prone to bluffing? why didn't you raise preflop?

Against players who always bluff too much, our primary goal is to get to SD. Once we figure out a way to do that for sure then look for raises. I never fold this hand vs this player, but I might be in LAG mode from playing SH.

My question is about my turn raise. My plan was raise-fold to 3bet.

My answer is twofold: one, have you seen him 3-bet-bluff an ace-high board like this? Two, if your plan was to fold to a 3-bet, why did you have that plan, and why are you questioning it?

He had folded to a raise on the turn several times. I followed through with folding. I see the value of calling down vs him with a weakish hand. As to why I didn't raise, my training wheels get in the way.

Thanks for the knowledge

I have to say I really hate this.

If his 3bet means Ax you have 5 outs on the K and Q, plus 4 straight outs on the J. Folding for one more bet here is wrong even if he isnt bluffing.
If he is utility betting with a hand like KJ or K9 you are well ahead and giving up a decent sized pot.

If your going to try any line like this I would call this turn for your cheap card and raise on the river. This ultra tricky play will really hurt you in the long run, particularly at low and micro limits.

Oh and btw you have 2PTK, which could prove the difference

Thanks for the extended reasoning. I couldnt agree more. What really made me feel bad about this play was the good pot size. Your response has hopefully helped my game.

Thanks again /images/graemlins/wink.gif
