Sony Vaio goes dead wont restart....

My roomate just bought a sony vaio and suddenly last week it goes dead for no apparent reason. He could restart it but the screen would stay completely black. He kept trying to turn it on and finally it came on and it said something about the drivers. Anyway, it has been working fine until today when it suddenly went black again. Does anyone know what this is about and how he can fix it? Thanks

Could be all sorts of things wrong with it.

Might just be the battery is empty or has gone bad. Bottom line is it's probably screwed up hardware. If there's a specific error message to go on, we could help more.

But since it is new (hopefully not bought off Ebay or something) you should just call Sony and either have them fix it over the phone or take it back to the retailer for a new one if they cant. Don't let them take it/send it to repair or any hogwash like that (again so long as it is anything hardware related but the battery). Just demand a completely new factory sealed replacement as this one is damaged goods.
